  • Enbridge still faces hurdles before Northern Gateway oil begins to flow [View news story]
Ha, the main hurdles go way beyond the couple of minor issues you mention. They include provincial approval from the British Columbia govt, a province where more than 63% of the population are against the pipeline. B.C. has veto power. In addition, the dozens of native bands in the province need to be consulted, and if they disagree come building day (and they all disagree with the project right now), they have said they will physically block the building through their lands. And of course other environmental groups will let their presence be felt if building of the pipeline begins. There is NO WAY that pipeline will ever be built on the path across British Columbia as it is now planned. These are the major hurdles.

  • La-Z-Boy -9.8% as weather hurts sales [View news story]
What hurt sales more than anything else at La-Z-Boy wasn't weather, it was lack of modern product. Their chairs and sofas belong to a long past era, and they need to re-invent themselves, soon.

  • I Have No Fear Of A Market Crash Or A Significant Correction, Here's Why: Part 1 [View article]
lol, you need to study the Japanese market from 1990 to 2010, the lost decades in Japanese equities. During this period, interest rates almost went negative, yet stocks kept on plunging and hovered around the bottom levels for many years. Your misguided confidence reminds me of economist Irving Fisher, who three days before the 1929 market crash, famously said: "Stock prices have reached what looks like a permanently high plateau." Stocks lost 75% of their value over the next 9 years.

  • Seabridge Gold +8% as new drill program begins at KSM [View news story]
The KSM has been ongoing for 8 years, each year they drill a little more, they find some more trashy, low grade ore, and they add it to the reserves. So far, they have half a billion tons of extremely low grade ore that cannot possibly be mined without taking massive losses. The ore body is up in the mountains, far from civilization, and represents nothing but a totally uneconomic pile of rock. Maybe at $4,000 /oz gold and $10/lb copper they could make a little money. Big hat, no cattle situation, all hype, no action.

  • General Electric: Strap Yourselves In And Prepare For Liftoff [View article]
Here's an explanation: GE was bailed out by the government in 2008, to the tune of $182 Billion. Without that, GE might no longer exist. Truly a turkey with the attitude of an eagle.

  • General Electric: Strap Yourselves In And Prepare For Liftoff [View article]
And the S&P 500 is up 50% since then, proving that neither AAPL nor GE have even kept up with the averages, and the only conclusion is that one of them is less bad than the other.

  • NQ Mobile Soars After Special Independent Committee Report: Here's What You Need To Know [View article]
NQ Soars, claims the headline. So a few shorts covered and the stock went up to fill a gap. Where are we now, 10 bucks? That's a long, long way from the 'soaring' heights the stock achieved many moons ago, stock still down 60% plus. There's something rotten in the state of Denmark, to quote Hamlet, so cut the hyperbole and give up on this rotting carcass of a stock. Hi risk, low reward.

  • GM engineer tied to massive recall [View news story]
In China, engineers whose shoddy work cause fatalities are often executed, gulp. In more civilized societies, those responsible for fatalities often live out their lives hounded by those morbid memories. I'm not sure which is worse.

  • FT: Errors place doubt on Piketty's theory about rising inequality [View news story]
Maybe in the European data there is a little doubt about Piketty's theory but in the U.S. there can be no doubt. The U.S. data are solid and shows that wealth inequality is as wide today as it was in the Robber Barron's era. And this inequality results in an inefficient, unproductive, and very unfair use of capital.

  • Toyota and California prep for hydrogen car launch next year [View news story]
Why not natural gas vehicles, after all most hydrogen comes from the deployment of natural gas as an originating fuel. IMO hydrogen has no future as a replacement for fossil fuels or electric - it is simply an energy carrier, not an energy source.
