  • Dimon out as chairman of JPMorgan's main bank unit [View news story]
Damn, Dimon's salary now drops from $6 million to $5.9 million, what a shame. Meanwhile, his bank has just been fined several BILLION dollars for hosing a bunch of European pigeons, and the stock doesn't even burp. Money is free (your tax dollars at work) if you're an international investment banker.

  • Angie's List testing price cuts, shares -4.2% AH [View news story]
New York, New York! If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere. Unfortunately, Angie's New York dike springs a hole. Can't make it there, can't make it in big cities everywhere, so turn out the lights, the party's over. Say goodbye to Hollywood, Angie.

  • Americans aren't betting on a recovery [View news story]
The US cannot expand while consumer senitment is low. It's a demand issue, and demand among Americans will be low for a long time to come because the middle class is shrinking while the rich get richer. Taxation for healthcare won't help. It will take a decade or more to work through the healthcare impact.

  • IHS: 23 non-North American shale oil plays hold potential 175B barrels [View news story]
Heh, tfcab you don't know what peak oil is. It ain't 'running out of oil', the world will never 'run out'. Peak Oil refers to the peak in production, not the resource. The world will stop production when it becomes too expensive because other forms of energy will supplant oil at some price point. That price point has already been reached when considered against other energy forms such as solar. The peak will take many years to form (let's say 15-20 yrs), and we are on the left shoulder of the peak now. Tight oil production in the developed contries HAS already peaked (talking US, Canada, all of Europe, Australia, Japan, etc.) and other forms of energy are being used because oil costs are so high. The excess oil being produced is by China, India, Pakistan, and other less developed, growing countries.

  • Angie's List Is Facing Tough Competition From HomeAdvisor And Yelp [View article]
Doesn't seem right to comapre ANGI with YELP and IACI because YELP and IACI are much more diversified while ANGI does only one thing. No matter, the conclusion is the same: ANGI should be trading in the single digits, $3.00 wouldn't be an unreasonable price.
