  • BlackBerry Scrutinized 2: Income Statement Analysis, Focus On Gross Margin And Operating Expenses [View article]
...and don't forget the NEW Blackberry lament... "It was taken out of Context" alla everything John Chen says.

I'm sure this Headline will be the excuse as to why the Z3 didn't sell.

The adjectives "Struggling and Failing" are absolutely complimentary when describing a 4.4 billion loss in a single quarter. How dare those evil reporters
use such harsh language to describe our beloved Blackberry!

  • BlackBerry - Strategically Changing The Course Of Its Future [View article]
Oh Fantastic - Stickers" I was starting to be concerned for ole BB. Funny with the ridiculous Qwerty thing because, on further examination it is really the trackball and back button, that sets the "Classic apart from the failed Q10 . What the Heck(ll) is the touch screen for now (not to mention the gestures) now that they have their back button back. Wait a minute, this could be a new tag line to send the company soaring. Blackberry...We Got our Back Button Back. Pleaseeee Come Back!

  • I'm A BlackBerry Buyer On Monday, No Questions Asked [View article]
You articulate better than me JoFergus. Any defense of Chens ineptitude on this initiative is laughable. Stop with the 30,000 have it employed...on trial and FREE yes, and still No comment from Chen on adoption rates. While Im at it, I can tell you with certainty that BB does not have 2.7 million in net cash (debentures..i.e. loans dont count). It is closer to 1 billion and that amounts to two quarters at the rate BB is burning the green (which will actually accelerate as it costs money to implement dreams, ifs and hopes. When the real Net cash runs out (not long) and they start spending Watsa'a loan with no way to pay it back...well, then the real fun begins! Chen will have 80 million, Watsa will recoup from the fire sale and the shareholders? Nothing.

Am I the only one who noticed the Blank Stare Chen offered when asked how many non-BlackBerry users your BES 10 systems are running now? His answer "I don’t know. I don’t have that number. Sorry about that. We’ll find that out and make sure that people get back to you".

Considering Enterprise (MDM) is the most important part of his new initiative you think he oughta know that kind of thing. Before the personal insults start to fly my way, I ask all BBrs to reply in earnest. What of the 30000 trial installs? Adoption rates? Nothing?

If they do not sell something, anything (except real estate & staff)...and quickly they will have no cash in 3 quarters.

  • BlackBerry core loss not as bad as feared [View news story]
I listened intently and what he didnt say (or rather didnt know) was frankly astonishing!

    Todd Coupland - CIBC
I wanted to know if you could tell us how many non-BlackBerry users your BES 10 systems are running now?

    John Chen - CEO
I don’t know. I don’t have that number. Sorry about that. We’ll find that out and make sure that people get back to you.

Wow....for a guy whos main focus is enterprise (MDM), you'd think he would know that.....even a guess would have been nice. Some? a few? its growing?
    My guess is None.

The equally inept CFO had a similar answer when asked about Net cash being only 1 billion (not good when you're burning through 1/2 that per quarter).

    James Yersh - CFO
I’m not sure I follow your math, Kulbinder. Maybe we can just take it off line and we’ll get back to you on that.

  • Is Chen Understating BlackBerry's Turnaround Odds? [View article]
Hey Mr. K....you know me formerly as rocketship. Nice to read you here again. Love your pieces, especially the Qwerty comments as this initiative absolutely dumbfounds me. I was equally astonished to find that it wont be released until next October. Wow...almost a year in the future to get to back to their past (their massive failure past). Just when I couldn't be more underwhelmed, Chen, today, spoke of another big and innovative push with....drum roll please.....the Blackberry Bold.....available in Land Fills, Everywhere!

  • BlackBerry Q4 Earnings Show A Turnaround In Motion [View article]
You are correct sfinvestor. All this fancy accounting talk cannot wring the stench out of the fact that a recently, self dismissed insider who is massively behind the eight ball on his BB investment is receiving these enormous sums.

Do you really want to know why? Come on now...think....Something just a little fishy in the air with Mr. Watsa taking big slabs of shareholder value on the way down. All this and in only just weeks removed from his big leather chair on the inside...

Your bang on with this comment and no one else seems to have caught it. Of course the entire debenture is to insure he gets the scraps when BB goes belly up but this one is even sleazier. Mr. Watsa had only just excused himself from the board prior to these transactions.....hmmmmm? Remarkable that this man remains the Messiah to the BB throng. Havent heard much from him lately either....the silence is deafening!

  • BlackBerry Is A Walking Dead Miracle - Buy More [View article]
What the heck is the difference between the two? Obviously the display but at at an extremely low (for a flagship) 295ppi and only a little shy of the (high spec'ed) S4's 441ppi. What else...hmmm, the processor and battery? Wow! startling upgrades and for $200 more nonetheless. Since my review is so outdated, kindly provide the links to the updated glorious ones you mention.

The Z30 is the best phone on the market? and addictive? The world certainly doesnt think so nor does your new CEO as I have yet to see him mention this phone (ever). How many have been sold to date? My last question is not tongue in cheek. I really want to know.

Every one of its competitors is better. iphone, Android and Windows8. Of course it doesnt matter if I say these are better or you (as a BB lover) say your beloved Z30 is. Show me a single (objective) review that places the Z30 at the top or even ok. Here are some (of many) reputable sites that definitely dont think so:
