Yahoo's YMail - Don't Really Get It [View article]
So Yahoo launched a couple new email domains, big deal! It is the media hyping it. Does Yahoo really think it is so great? No, just a nice little improvement, nothing more. Move along.
Yahoo Destroying Shareholder Value, Internet Balance of Power [View article]
Yahoo's problem is a lack of leadership and it starts from the top. Jerry Yang is a good guy but he does not seem to have the interest (or competence?) to really get down and clean house. Yet that's what Yahoo desperately needs -- a micro-managing Steve Jobs type CEO that is simply not going to accept the fact that Yahoo employees working on the same projects CANNOT EVEN SCHEDULE MEETINGS WITH EACH OTHER. That's right, many meetings at Yahoo are scheduled the old-fashioned way by manually comparing calendars verbally or over 10 emails back-and-forth. Seems like nitpicking? Well this is just a fundamental example of the lack of leadership.
Yahoo: Icahn Win Would Irrevocably Trigger Severance Plan [View article]
It only triggers one requirement (out of two needed). If Icahn's board wins, employee pay, locations, responsibilities, etc. are not going to change overnight.
Microsoft's Cashback: Changing the Internet Industry Forever [View article]
SingHash, what Internet do you use? The Internet I've used for the last 10 years already has all those potholes, derelects, hoodlums, etc. that you describe.
I guess you missed the part about how the Roku has a chipset that they want to actively license to TV and other electronic manufacturers so that people won't need "another box". It would be built right in.
I still agree with some sentiments in the article, but c'mon, at least do some basic research before you write.
Safety Insurance: A Great Company at a Great Price [View article]
I disagree with some of your logic. High gas prices also cause people to buy smaller cars which are most likely cheaper to insure. Even worse, I'm sure many folks have cut back on their second or third family car. Some folks may even get rid of car ownership completely and go with public transportation.
I would think all of this would cancel out the benefits you described.
Anatomy of a Fine Rumor: A Microsoft Yahoo / Facebook Two-Step Aimed at Google [View article]
patrickb, that sounds great until you realize Microsoft makes it and it will be a buggy, bloated mess. They can't even make a TV box (check out reviews of their AT&T Uverse IPTV box -- it is atrocious). And do I even need to mention Vista?
As I write this, LDK up about 11% since this article was written. Could you please keep posting when you sell any stocks? I'd like to buy your shares. Thanks.
