As I write this, LDK up about 11% since this article was written. Could you please keep posting when you sell any stocks? I'd like to buy your shares. Thanks.
If you owned it since 8/30/07 you can't hold it a few more months and quality for a long-term distribution and lower taxes (if you show a profit by then, which is more likely than not)? That doesn't make sense, especially when you also say LDK is a late 2008 play.

I would agree that LDK is heavy on speculation except for one thing: all the long-term contracts they've signed. If you do the math on these contracts they are going to print money as long as the factory works. I see no reason why it won't (and I almost want to hear short-term negatives about it so I can buy more).

Like the previous comments, I don't get it. Why so focused on current margins? They are irrelevant! LDK obviously recognized the margin problem long ago which is why decided to make their own polysilicon!
Am I just so out-of-touch with today's investors that only seem to be able to see one or two quarters ahead?

wiseinvestor: did you notify the SEC? The margin change (and subsequent borrow offer) to you may not be too suspicious independently, but I'm curious if there is some sort of systematic behavior going on.
LDK Solar: Conversation with Pichel Revisited [View article]
I think it is Pichel's opinion of LDK's polysilicon plans that most folks disagree with at this point. The past behavior of LDK has been analyzed to death so let's look forward.
Basically what Pichel is saying is: any company that attempts to build a polysilicon plant in 2 years or less should be rated sell.

Well put. LDK is indeed a "battleground" stock. And even if it languishes and is only $40 in two years... well that might be better than most S&P 500 companies will look in that same timeframe. The risk versus reward makes it an obvious buy. I'm heavily invested already, but I'm always tempted to add more in the 30's.
If You Like Solar, LDK Is a Good Bet [View article]
marlow, what's suspicious is the "wild ride" upward started BEFORE the audit results were released. Look at the chart. I think the catalyst was the supply deal to Q-Cells.
I bought more yesterday as well around $50. Didn't time it quite right, but we're green today which makes me breathe easier. Right now this stock is not for the faint of heart.
LDK is my biggest holding. The wild swings make me feel like I'm in Vegas, but long-term there's no question it's a screaming buy right now. Indeed the analysts have some sort of agenda against LDK.
