  • Yahoo Destroying Shareholder Value, Internet Balance of Power [View article]
Yahoo's problem is a lack of leadership and it starts from the top. Jerry Yang is a good guy but he does not seem to have the interest (or competence?) to really get down and clean house. Yet that's what Yahoo desperately needs -- a micro-managing Steve Jobs type CEO that is simply not going to accept the fact that Yahoo employees working on the same projects CANNOT EVEN SCHEDULE MEETINGS WITH EACH OTHER. That's right, many meetings at Yahoo are scheduled the old-fashioned way by manually comparing calendars verbally or over 10 emails back-and-forth. Seems like nitpicking? Well this is just a fundamental example of the lack of leadership.

  • Yahoo: Icahn Win Would Irrevocably Trigger Severance Plan [View article]
It only triggers one requirement (out of two needed). If Icahn's board wins, employee pay, locations, responsibilities, etc. are not going to change overnight.

  • Microsoft's Cashback: Changing the Internet Industry Forever  [View article]
SingHash, what Internet do you use? The Internet I've used for the last 10 years already has all those potholes, derelects, hoodlums, etc. that you describe.

  • Anatomy of a Fine Rumor: A Microsoft Yahoo / Facebook Two-Step Aimed at Google [View article]
patrickb, that sounds great until you realize Microsoft makes it and it will be a buggy, bloated mess. They can't even make a TV box (check out reviews of their AT&T Uverse IPTV box -- it is atrocious). And do I even need to mention Vista?

  • At $30, Microsoft's a Steal - Barron's [View article]
Editor you might want to do more editing...

"it was Microsoft's last change to gain a serious foothold"

    chance, not change.

The quality of writing in general seems to be going downhill. It seems like half the articles around here have typos (of the type spellcheck doesn't catch; i.e. human check needed).

  • Microsoft/Yahoo: Will Google Play Spoiler and Bid Also? [View article]
This would have anti-trust issues certainly, but GOOG still could bid just to make Microsoft pay more. Or even if it get shot down by anti-trust, tying up YHOO in a GOOG deal would also hurt Microsoft.

  • Microsoft Zune Incompatible With The Company's Music Downloads Standard [View article]
That's the Windows world. I think many were optimistic that Zune would not be Microsoft-business-as-... but now they've proven otherwise.

  • Microsoft Zune Incompatible With The Company's Music Downloads Standard [View article]
No, this is significant for MSFT because they have damaged their reputation for software licensing and partnerships.

  • It's Game Time: Game Console and Software Stock Update [View article]
Every single point is about the PS3 somehow. Perhaps this should be retitled "implications of the PS3 shortfall". I'm already a Nintendo investor. What software stocks are strongest for the Wii?

  • Sony PS3 Misses Sales Target, Xbox 360 and Wii May Beat Targets [View article]
Also worth noting that Sony supposedly loses money on every console sold. Nintendo makes a profit.

Personally I think Sony is in trouble. Microsoft already has a nice foothold for high-def games. I see Nintendo as the system everybody owns, with the passionate gamers choosing between Microsoft and Sony for high-def. XBox 360 simply seems like the better system: price, availability, games, and a better online service. Reports are that the graphics in the PS3 may be better than Xbox 360 but not *that* much better.

Not to mention that Sony has been incompetent at nearly everything they've done the past few years. Flawed CD copy-protection, exploding batteries, terrible choices in digital music. No reason to think the PS3 will be any different.

  • PS3, XBox or Wii: Pros and Cons of Gaming Consoles  [View article]
Shouldn't the title of this article be "PS3 versus everyone else"? It is very PS3-centric. Very little Microsoft or Nintendo info.
