  • No One Saw This Economic Crisis Coming? [View article]
It is useful and interesting to do a post mortem on who saw the crisis coming, and what we should and should not have done. My question to those who saw it coming is "what do we do now? and "are actions by the government helping or delaying a recovery?". If the stimulus was a good idea, and has not really been implemented, why do we need a second stimulus already. Seems to me that there are more questions than answers and that does not instill confidence that we have the right leadership.

  • U.S. Economy Will Recover, But Only in 2010 [View article]
Since 2010 is a mid term election year, you can be certain that the government-media complex will trumpet a recovery whether we have one or not.

  • Expect Double Digit Unemployment [View article]
Aren't we already at double digit unemployment? The official numbers are too low as I understand it.

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [View article]
a.palmer jr. said: "We need Congressional oversight..but we also need someone to watch the Congress, which we don't have."

This should be the job of the News Media, but most of them have climbed into bed with the politicos and refuse to expose the fraud and corruption that goes on. Watchdog status has fallen to the internet community.

  • Wall Street Is Short Barack Obama [View article]
This President clearly doesn't care about the stock market, and views the 3000 point drop since the election as just a curiosity. His focus seems to be only on social programs that don't necessarily help investors (which include most of the country in some form).

Even Warren Buffett's BRK-A is down over 40% since last fall and about 10% down in Feb. Somehow, I thought Buffett would have done better.

  • 3 Reasons I Think a Bull Market Rally Is Imminent [View article]
Of course there will be a rally, but it will be quickly followed by a sell off as most investors don't expect a sustained rally. Bears rule this market, and probably will for the rest of 2009.

  • Line U-6: A Sell Signal for Bulls and Bears  [View article]
It will be a long time before we go from an economy of consumption to an economy of production, if ever. It seems futile for the "government" to continue with the Stimulous/Bailout/Thro... hope and spend programs because I don't think anyone in government has a clue as to what to do. Maybe they should stop trying to "help"?

  • What Happened to the American Dream? [View article]
Wow, Mr. Quinn details issues I have thought about, but not outlined as well as he has. James Quinn expresses concerns that many of us have, and seems to be looking for ways to reverse the problems and actions leading to the perilous situation we are facing. It is doubtful that leaders of the country have any real solutions or even fully recognize the problems.
Relying on grass roots efforts is noble but it is unclear if enough of the citizenry is ready or willing to "take back the country". There is a lot of hand wringing and worry around the nation, but I'm not sure if we are ready to save, sacrifice and reconcile "needs" vs "wants" in defining the American Dream.
If the existing system collapses though, choices will be taken from us.

Agree with all above. Scares me to think of all the still to be discovered problems ala Bernie Madoff's hedge collapse. Has the entire market become a giant Ponzi scheme?
