Buyers step in very late in the game to lift stocks from their lows and mitigate damages from today's selloff. Unofficial final numbers: DJIA -0.67% (-58.14) to 8,682.73. S&P -1.32% (-12.53) to 932.21. Nasdaq -0.59% (-10.88) to 1,825.92. [View news story]
Exactly same thing as last Friday, Dow came back 1% in the last 25 mins with some volume. Volume was really low before that. This pattern is repeated day in and day out...whenever there is a danger of the market going further down...something steps in the last 15-20 mins prior to close and pushes the marekt higher into close. This in turn helps the asian markets and sentiments for asia and the +ve stock numbers from Asia becomes a +ve feedback into US markets in the morning. Somebody with huge amount of money is definitely maniulating the markets here....guess who?

"Capital One or American Express. Those companies are lousy investments"
Finally, something that Cetin thinks is a bad investment. But, agree with you, V and MA (like V more) are probably good buys, should stay away from or short COF and AXP. COF will probably go down to single digits later this year
Is it worth buying this at 3.50, would appreciate any comments or feedback, They seem to have about 1.50 in cash...but that's not much of a comfort since they probably will burn through that, how does their overall IP portfolio look? Any chance they might be bought out.....I guess it all depends on how good their original data is and that's a mystery

Couldn't agree more. This is exactly what is happening. Its just a certain small segment of the population, relatively well educated upper middle class which bear the main brunt of taxes who are going to get creamed.

Atleast, in this day of internet and bloggers some of us getting to know the truth. I guess in the past ( I am sure these things have been going on for a while) not many people would have come to know of such things since the mainstream media would never cover it. I posted links to this article on Huffingtonpost, hopefully by spreading this article more we can force the mainstream media to cover this.

Jack, thank you for your comments and prior analysis. I am long TSL, SOL and CSIQ as well. I am sure the ITC will pass by october this year. Already we can see that the democrats are reconsidering their position on offshore drilling and that should lead to a compromise and eventually the bill should pass.

Thanks, I don't understand ASTI's technology much. I know its 3rd generation, thin film on plastic and can be molded with construction material, but the company seems to have an uncertain future....execution or expansion plans are too conservative and don't see when they would be profitable. I guess its more of a buy-out target. I really do think SOL at current price is highly undervalued...its trading at ~6 forward P\E of 09

Rana.....I have often seen you recommend SPIR and it seems that SPIR is your no. 1 holding. I am trying to find out more about SPIRE and would like to know why you think SPIR is a great buy.
If Obama wins (which seems likely as of now) I think the whole group of solar stocks will move significantly higher. You can see details of Obama's energy policy here.
Invest $150 Billion over 10 Years in Clean Energy, Require 25 Percent of Renewable Electricity by 2025, could be huge for the american solar companies.
My current holdings consist of SOL and TSL (got in at about 36 for TSL and 17 for SOL), have some more money to invest...which of the following would be the best buy at current price:
1. ESLR - 8.91 2. ASTI - 8.80 3. SPIR - 11.26
Of course I expect the rate of return to be quite low on FSLR, ENER or SPWR. Would you reccomend any of these three over the ones mentioned above.
Amongst the chinese ADRs which are the ones which seem most attractive at current prices for future gain (maybe year end). I am listing it in the order I like.
Not sure if we have hit the bottom yet, but any of these companies at current price will give you chance to come out with sizeable profit within the next 6months - year.
