I'm surprised that there is no mention of Juniper here for they are the true #2 and have the best long-term chance of cutting into Cisco's dominant market share.

Micrcosoft Buys Powerset: Next Big Thing or More Junk? [View article]
The better technology buy may have been cognition.com. I've been hearing good things about Cognition's semantic search technology for a while. Perhaps Microsoft wanted to buy a lot of talented engineers more than technology since Powerset has 100+ employees and Cognition is still trying to build-out a business around impressive technology.
Should be interesting to see if semantic search eventually takes off.
