  • BlackBerry: We Lost Many Battles In The Past, But Not The War [View article]
Their seems to be conflicting reports about the Z3 roll-out. The NY Times basically said it was meh, so have other reports. I am hopeful, but have been down this road before with the BB10 launch. So which is it? Time will tell.

  • Buy Blackberry, Even If No One Bids On It [View article]
BES 10 along with Good Technology are the only MDM's that broker all data and offer AES 256 encryption in motion and at rest. No other MDM's do that.

Doh! That's Because GSA uses Google apps now and is no longer a BlackBerry customer.

  • WSJ: BlackBerry set to cut workforce by up to 40% [View news story]
This could be a sign of the exit out of manufacturing. It wouldn't surprise me but seems too large a cut and premature.

  • Reports: BlackBerry looking to find buyer by Nov., Microsoft "keeping an eye" [View news story]
Hmm..it would seem rather strange that everyone knowing BB is up for grabs and now adoption takes off? Seriously doubtful. Be realistic, BB launched a new OS, a really good OS in a vacuum. It's all about marketing, promotion and coolness. They never the the $$ to promote it and if you ask me the plan was to launch, increase value and sell.

  • BlackBerry jumps on fresh Lenovo rumors [View news story]
Lenovo could be interested in the hardware side of things, since that is what they do. Most electronics are manufactured in China anyway. As long as they don't take over BB's NOC and infrastructure then it is pretty feasible that Lenovo could buy that portion of the business.

  • Has BlackBerry Made A Mistake By Publicly Announcing An Imminent Sale? [View article]
I believe the announcement came due to an SEC filing due to Prem Watsa resignation. They would have to get ahead of the story before the media got a hold of that.

  • Possible buyout of BlackBerry by Canadian firms gains momentum [View news story]
Let's say it happens, what then? Split the company up? Private equity is shady in my opinion, they will do what's best for them not necessarily the company.

  • BlackBerry Poised For A Volatile Month [View article]
Not sure people are really paying attention to that. I believe individuals have shrugged their shoulders regarding security or don't fully understand it. Corporations maybe not so much, but even Corporations and Governments are accepting more risk as a fact of life.

  • While Digitimes reports of a pickup in BB10-related (BBRY -3.3%) component orders, Pac Crest's James Faucette claims Asian supply chain checks indicate BB10 phone production "remains well in excess of current sell-through demand." Faucette, who aired similar comments a month ago, thinks combined sell-through for the Q10/Z10 are "well below" 500K/month, while production has remained in the 1.5M-2M/month range, though a June slowdown is expected. He thinks there's potential for a write-down similar to the $752M charge taken on BB7/PlayBook inventory last year. [View news story]
It seems to me that a negative analyst like Faucette has to release BS like this whenever anything remotely positive is published. It's very coordinated and transparent. My question is, why do the markets seem to react more to the negative unfounded reports? I guess BB still has something to prove but I don't really think that is it.

  • BlackBerry Enterprise Picks Up Steam [View article]
Our legal and compliance teams will be thrilled about EMM mode but I question will any employee use that? The genie is out of the bottle so to speak so I think it will be hard for any company to deploy a mobile device and say it's limited to only these functions.

I believe they had to do this and offer it as an option to their large base of high security customers, like the US and other Governments. Many will probably opt for a more robust user experience but some will want the Regulated feature, few, but some. It just shows how BlackBerry is dedicated to security and listens to their customer base. Unlike some tax evading companies. :)

  • "Our Asia checks indicate [BB10 phone] builds have recently increased from 2M/month to 2M+," says Jefferies' Peter Misek, who returns from his Asian trip writing more favorably about BlackBerry (BBRY +1.9%) than Apple. Misek adds checks indicate "2-3 additional BB10 models are likely to launch before year end" - a mid-range QWERTY phone (the R-Series?), a mid-range touchscreen phone, and a 5" touchscreen phone. He also claims Z10 sell-through data is steady, and Q10 business channel pre-sales are strong. (previous[View news story]
i guess Misek has come to Jesus, huh?
