    China wants to win, acknowledging that China is involved in a global competition in a contracting global economy, which few will emerge from intact and healthy, and doesn't waste energy worrying what the rest of the world thinks about China beyond what it shows China in trade and in overt military behavior.

    The US wants to believe it is part of a global community of brothers with shared goals and resources, and will not survive unless the rest of the world approves of her image and attitude, having unilaterally given up manufacturing and resource production and most other practical activities, abandoning competition for the purpose of lowering the bar and waiting for all losers and stragglers, while focusing on trying to bribe neighbors into being friendly with gifts of food and increasingly worthless cash.

    Can any rational person think China isn't going to win?
