  • Peak Oil for Dummies [View article]
"Unless there are major technological advances in the next few years then we are in for a century of war and famine."

The rate of decline will determine the severity of the crisis. Our national dependence on oil and being the world's largest military superpower should scare the hell out of oil producers. The US military will take what it needs from the world to survive in its current incarnation. We have more to fear from within than from without. Because we will be the aggressor in this conflict. And, we will spin it within some form of morality that belies our greed.

  • California Resource Maximization: Marijuana First, Then Oil [View article]
Unfortunately, rail is the only long-term solution available. Americans are consistently myopic in the belief that we can continue to support personal transportation machines into the next century. The sooner that we migrate our urban design to mass transit the better, so that we can maximize their benefits. We faced peak oil last year and look what it did to the global economy. It crashed the US's financial house of cards. Once oil demand rebuilds the price will skyrocket again. The sad thing is that this country can't plan beyond one election for infrastructure.
