It took AAPL some years to be released in the VZ market. Nokia has bigger fishes to fry globally other than persuading Verizon's 110 million mobile customers who has a strong affinity with AAPL and Samsung products. In due time it will be released to VZ. Capturing the lower end smartphone market is a bold move for Nokia alongside a strangle-hold on the feature market, again globally. LONG NOKIA are the words for the day.
Im glad Nokia did not announced any high end phones today. It would've destroyed the 920's image. Elop and team sees the bigger picture on how to secure Nokia's future by capturing the feature market and help them transition to the low cost Lumia lines. Higher end phone should be save later in the year to create more buzz and not steal the spotlight off the Lumia 920, which is still considered the most innovative phone in the market.
The Music Stops For ResMed: Potential Downside, And Management Already Has A Seat [View article]
Resmed has the sleep medicine world on a choke hold. Best products hands down, no company can compare. I do agree that it is a bit pricey at the moment, but $10-$14 is a bit low don't you think. I see it going back to low 30's after a correction. Looking to make a decent position again for my dividend portfolio. This company is leading the sleep field, 90 million people left undiagnosed, cyclical product. etc. etc. Great solid company to hold. Thanks for the article, still a good read.
Used it with sincerity and not to belittle anyone Charles. I see myself as a bag holder because after exercising the 3,000 share ITM LEAPS with the experiment I'm conducting. I will have a total 10,000 shares by years end. So, I am a proud bag holder :)
I can turn on everyone here for fun, but whats the point we have enough of those jokers. It wouldn't matter because I am Long and Calm NOK.
Nokia is in a middle of a transition, killing off Symbian for the Asha line and manufacturing all types of Lumias. The new assmebly line is on its way, ETA 1 month and i'm sure assembly restructuring as well ;)
Ford motors almost went bankrupt when they decided to produce only one color (black) while other manufacturers were doing multiple colors. History is cool :)
I don't understand why MSFT leaves such a sour taste in the U.S.. MSFT is a big part of the American computing systems and resources if they like it or not. The only valid reason why people despise MSFT because of the gigantic presence they have here, which automatically labels them as sell out's. I will never understand that motive of thinking. People here are not easily satisfied even it brings conveniences to their lives and always looking for new and innovative product not in the norm. Which leads to your comment "manages to dissociate consumers from negative Windows related associations that are still prevalent" it makes total sense. Nokia with its new fresh look and specs still gets frown upon here due to their association with MSFT. A catalyst is needed to remind these folks how Nokia was in the past. The problem with that marketing strategy, as being humans, we easily forget.
We are talking about mobile phones, still in the lines momentary joy other than functionality for the herd, as being replaceable. I do believe in the story, the global story.
System? Are you referring to build-a-bear approach, I don't know anyone else ready for that type of consumer satisfaction, especially the younger generation. The fast food generation, with instant gratification mentality, or just plain lazy kids. Not to many people in the U.S. are introverted thinkers, most fall into the herd mentality.
Maybe one of the main reason U.S. Consumers are taking so long to catch the Nokia fever again due to they're affinity with Apple and Samsung. I'm the only one in my circle who owns a 920. :(
The graphene material also in Nokia's pipeline which can can be applied to 3d phone chassis printing . Henry Ford had the patent on the first plastic automobile which was 30% lighter than metal built.
I'm not really sure Nokia device knows different avenues to increase business productivity, but I believe NSN will be a big player in that category. NOKIA hardware seems to be targeting individual customer preference globally at the moment through telecos partnerships. Although with MSFT OS ecosystem, a lot can happen in the future. WP8 experienced 100% growth from 2011-12 a small gain of 1.8 to 3%. Compared to others (% wise) its a big jump. :)

Wow, 340 millions shares to buy back if they are wrong. Its a ticking bomb, cutting the wrong wire will be explosive for both longs and shorts. Although it depends how far you are from the explosion if you'll be negatively or positively affected ;)
Yahoo (YHOO +1.5%) has 200M monthly mobile users, Marissa Mayer boasts at her Goldman presentation. Of course, a lot of those users are tied to pre-installed iOS apps, which don't feature ads. Mayer suggests Yahoo wants to offer 12-15 mobile apps, but adds it won't invest in maps "because I know from my past life how expensive that is." She sees "opportunities around original programming" (so do many others), thinks the success of Yahoo Sports "needs to be replicated," and insists the Microsoft (MSFT) partnership is healthy, though room for improvement exists. What Does Siemens' Exit From Nokia Siemens Networks Mean For Nokia Investors [View article]
Siemens is equivalent to General Eletric, they have their hands on everything. Cutting ties with NSN is most likely an executive move by Siemens to get some burden off their shoulders due to eurozone activity. 3G to 4G LTE infrastructure is a big part of Nokia's future. If a spin-off is in the making, I will be adding more shares in my heavy bag and letting it ride for some years. Actually, I'll be exercising 3000 more shares before years end. Cutting the dividend this year was a blessing for me, coming from a young investors point of view.
