Wow, 340 millions shares to buy back if they are wrong. Its a ticking bomb, cutting the wrong wire will be explosive for both longs and shorts. Although it depends how far you are from the explosion if you'll be negatively or positively affected ;)

  • Yahoo (YHOO +1.5%) has 200M monthly mobile users, Marissa Mayer boasts at her Goldman presentation. Of course, a lot of those users are tied to pre-installed iOS apps, which don't feature ads. Mayer suggests Yahoo wants to offer 12-15 mobile apps, but adds it won't invest in maps "because I know from my past life how expensive that is." She sees "opportunities around original programming" (so do many others), thinks the success of Yahoo Sports "needs to be replicated," and insists the Microsoft (MSFT) partnership is healthy, though room for improvement exists. • What Does Siemens' Exit From Nokia Siemens Networks Mean For Nokia Investors [View article]
Siemens is equivalent to General Eletric, they have their hands on everything. Cutting ties with NSN is most likely an executive move by Siemens to get some burden off their shoulders due to eurozone activity. 3G to 4G LTE infrastructure is a big part of Nokia's future. If a spin-off is in the making, I will be adding more shares in my heavy bag and letting it ride for some years. Actually, I'll be exercising 3000 more shares before years end. Cutting the dividend this year was a blessing for me, coming from a young investors point of view.

Targeting lower end users not only generate profits (although w/ small margin), it also creates mindshare. Mindshare is a big part of Nokia's marketing strategy by causing nostalgia from past users on how dependent and reliable their products were back in the day. Nokia started losing users from the cluttered hardware they provided during the Blackberry / Apple era. These so call dumb / feature phone are introductory products for the high end Lumia line. It will create another cult following with the younger lower income earners that will coincide with they're earnings growth by upgrading to higher end Lumia models. It creates simplicity and stability within the ecosystem.

Nice informative link about Libel and Slander Mr. Tomasello, spanks.
Similar to "defamation of character" in the workplace. An employee or employer could face a hefty fine and immediate termination. Looking forward on how this will play out. Nokia is literally connecting people one way or the other :P

Like what you stated in the past, you learn more if your actually playing :)

A friend of mine gave me a $10000 lesson on swing trading, a lost he had made from a mistake he learned from. Follow the 20 day moving average and Bohlinger Bands. He makes a living doing this. I had a chance to shadow him last week. Ex I.T. network employee for JPM. Although he advices to have 50k capital that you are not afraid to lose, if not you will think like a loser. He also leverages 4 to 1 margin accounts as well. A bit overwhelming for the moment, but my jaw dropped watching him in action.

Your -3000 on Apple. NOK should be a good play especially with rumored NSN spin off. Hopefully it doesn't happen until next year just enough time to exercise my ITM 3000shares. It'll be pay day :)
Still have a good amount of equity on my NOK shares, my margin is safe. Haven't been updating lately, don't have enough time at the moment. Been posting with the 920, bit tedious.

Just sold my first option play with AMD at a lost of -30.45 due to transaction cost. lol

It also states "Equally important, Nokia confirms that its position is that its transfer pricing policies are fully in accordance with the applicable legislation in India and Finland, including the bilateral tax treaty in force between the countries."

So if these allegations had any verity whatsoever, the Finnish & Indian government could be at fault?

    India tax news, off topic.

Nokia lodges official protest against Chennai tax authorities.

“As a company with operations around the globe, Nokia believes the actions of the Income-Tax authorities in Chennai are excessive, unacceptable and inconsistent with the Indian standards of fair play and governance. Specifically, in tax investigations like this, local standards would prohibit Government officials from entering the factory premises and Nokia IT systems without valid authorisation and questioning the individual employees for intolerably long periods of time, even after they have fully cooperated with the authorities,’’ Nokia said in a statement.

Nokia said that it has not received any official information on the potential tax claims, and thus far has only seen wildly varying claims from anonymous officials via the media. “We do not see any merit in any of the claims, and are ready to defend ourselves vigorously,’’ the handset maker said. This is the first time that Nokia has come out in the open on the issue.

When the shareholders agreement expires on April 2013, it would still remain valid as long as the agreement is consistent. Most of the news about seimens cutting their ties with Nokia networks are from the news media and no official press has been provided by NSN with the matter. It must be a corporate thing, guess we have to wait in anticipation for April's shower. Timo is part of NSN board of directors and CEO Mr. Suri has been part of Nokia networks since 1997. Loyalty of the CEO must be strong and hoping it'll continue for Nokia's sake. NSN are the "geologist" for Nokia's other business segments. They pretty much pave the road for their devices and location services. Hoping for Nokia to keep their hands tight on this baby. A spin-off would be a great event. Thanks for the article Mr. Jacob Steinberg. It makes one think :)

    Long NOK.

Seppo made a great point a few days ago on how the local tax authorities in India were just making a claim. Just doing their daily routine to keep they're job going. It was a great assumption.

I emailed Nokia personally last week and got a short response; " we follow all tax laws no matter where we conduct business, thank you for you continued support. best regards, Nokia corportation.
