  • AT&T (T) will sell Nokia's (NOK) Lumia 920 and 820 for $100 and $50 apiece with contracts. The 920's price (like that of the Lumia 900) undercuts the iPhone and many high-end Android models, but is only par with AT&T's pricing for HTC's Windows Phone 8X. Reviews for the 920 (I, II, III) have been positive, but not glowing. Much will come down to the extent consumers embrace a UI that's radically different from Android and iOS, and are willing to accept a smaller app ecosystem. [View news story]
It is time to get on the NOK-ia gravy train. AT&T is about to make history again with the lumia line subsidizing extravaganza! People will be leaving their carriers for this deal. Wonderful news.
Side note: I will be adding to my AT&T position as well, before this heavy a** phone goes to Verizon in a few years.

  • Short Interest For Nokia Is At An All-Time High [View article]
The best way not to lose money on this trade is not to sell. It doesn't matter if you had been buying in the $2 range or $3 range. The company's fundamentals are strong for the long run which gives a hint of light at the end of the tunnel. I've ridden this roller coster averaging down to $1.90 range. Swing trading and scalping is another way to protect your gains. Options is another animal which I am trying to tame. Short interest w/ exaggerated macro/micro news is definitely affecting the market price. IMHO.

  • Nokia: Is Now The Time To Cash In? [View article]
Stealthology, I agree with your comments especially not relying on technical analysis and charts. Market timing is not my means of investing, but will look into it to base an exit strategy.

A thorough understanding of the company and its competitive environment is the only edge I have over other investors and analysts' in finding reasonably valued stocks. Nokia is a perfect example because it had been battered and beaten by analysts' & media. The growth story is true because not only it can be seen in the press, but I am composing this comment with Nokia's latest hardware (Lumia 920).

For Longs, price drops should be viewed as an opportunity to buy more at cheaper prices and not take profits. So I disagree with authors conclusion.

Finally, the first evidence of a turnaround is when inventories start to be depleted.

Longs should stay long (make money), traders will trade (make money) and pigs get slaughtered : )

  • What Does Siemens' Exit From Nokia Siemens Networks Mean For Nokia Investors [View article]
When the shareholders agreement expires on April 2013, it would still remain valid as long as the agreement is consistent. Most of the news about seimens cutting their ties with Nokia networks are from the news media and no official press has been provided by NSN with the matter. It must be a corporate thing, guess we have to wait in anticipation for April's shower. Timo is part of NSN board of directors and CEO Mr. Suri has been part of Nokia networks since 1997. Loyalty of the CEO must be strong and hoping it'll continue for Nokia's sake. NSN are the "geologist" for Nokia's other business segments. They pretty much pave the road for their devices and location services. Hoping for Nokia to keep their hands tight on this baby. A spin-off would be a great event. Thanks for the article Mr. Jacob Steinberg. It makes one think :)

    Long NOK.

  • Nokia's Stephen Elop Says Android Is A Possibility [View article]
"As for me, I am still holding onto my Nokia shares and promise to do so at least until the end of 2014 no matter what happens."

  • Will Nokia's Recent Asset Sales Pay Dividends For Investors? [View article]
NSN is and will be advantageous for Nokia's mobile phone business segment especially with emerging markets where LTE network technology is still underdeveloped.

2013 will be an important time for LTE development in emerging markets such as Latin America (e.g. BRAZIL) and Asia. Just in time for Nokia's turnaround.

  • Subscribers at China Mobile (CHL), the country's largest cellular operator, will be able to order Nokia's (NOK) Windows 8 based Lumia 920T by the end of the month for 4,599 yuan ($739) without a contract. That's a bit later than the November launch that was initially envisaged, although it still beats Apple to the punch, as China Mobile doesn't yet carry an iPhone. Nokia jumps 6% in Helsinki. NOKIA is the biggest shippers of handsets and Jobs admired them for that.
"NOKIA was smart enough to make great smartphones and non-smartphones to be price competitive. No other phone device company was able to do this other than NOKIA. "

Now they are penetrating the high end smartphone devices with their Lumia line which is becoming a threat for the top 2 smartphone makers. Nokia is able to drive the price down while making a better product. With the same functionality or better from competing smartphone devices. Making breakthrough products to compete, drive the cost down while constantly making the product better. The relentless improvement at lower price will eventually beat the competition and yield a larger market share.

China will accept. Long NOK :)

  • Nokia (NOK) is seeking to block the sale of most RIM (RIMM) products in the U.S., Canada and U.K. through the enforcement of the ruling of an arbitrator, which found in favor of the Finnish company in a dispute over patents related to its wireless local access network (WLAN) technology. The arbitrator, the firm says, ruled that RIM is "not entitled to manufacture or sell WLAN products without first agreeing royalties with Nokia." [View news story]

Another positive news w/ pps being driven down after a bounce. Shorts are going strong and traders are taking in profits. Not a surprise. Im holding long, and Q4 will be the welcome party. Longs should take a break following NOK, it is worse than sleep apnea.

  • Don't look for Nokia (NOK -2.3%) to release a Lumia phone with a physical keyboard, says smartphone EVP Jo Harlow. “It’s really a question, “is there a large enough audience out there?,” she rhetorically asks, while calling those who still want QWERTYs a "dying breed." Outside of BlackBerry's (BBRY +0.4%) Q10, there has been a dearth of major QWERTY smartphone announcements lately. [View news story]
I know for sure that BBRY is paying Nokia for every BB10 sold :)

Maintaining a long-term commitment to a particular stock (LONGS) should only focus on relative fundamental values. Technicals charts are meant for traders with no valid reason to be vested in a company other than to make quick money.
