  • Altria: Tobacco Stock at a Discount [View article]
The way I see it.. tobacco is nasty.. spiting, chewing, inhaling, all the same to me.. but.. many people like, love, need it so it makes us money. Mo & RAI make money and they consistently pay dividends every three months to me. That's what it all about here.

  • The Nine Best Natural Gas, Oil Pipelines for Income and Capital Gains [View article]
Excellent overview without the "long story."
Having seen my banks, shipping dividends slip into the abyss.. the MLP's payouts have been my bread & butter during this recession. Being retired, the money is there on a quarterly basis.

  • MLPs Soar to New Highs in 2009 [View article]
I'm a big fan of many MLP's. I've been sliced & diced by the banks, insurance companies and just about all other dividend paying companies this time around.
The only area that has kept my passive income whole had been the pipelines. (Nat/Oil)
Cash cow for a retired guy.. thank you MLP's.
Check out what I own and see for yourself .. if you are looking for passive income you need to have some money with these folks.

  • Is BB&T Worth the Price? [View article]
I agree with Ockham this time around. I own about six banks and have paid the price for this ownership. BBT is the one bank to own going forward at this time. They cut the dividend this year which cause many folks to sell. This bank is well position to take market share from others in the market and I believe will come out of this much stronger then what many folks believe. Check it out.

  • 5 Companies Raising Dividends in This Recession [View article]
I'm a dividend investor and I do my homework..but, 1-3% yields don't cut it with me. Inflation is higher then what the yield is. I know you can move the numbers around and project this and that. Most of your hopes of making some real money rest with the stock price going up.
There are many better choices out that offer 7-10 yield with significant capital growth. That's where I want to be.

  • Beware 'Dividend Aristocrats' that Actually Offer Low Yields, No Real Income [View article]
I'm primary interested in stocks with a strong income stream (8-10%), enough growth to increase the dividend above the on going inflation rate. Stocks that pay 2-5% are not on my radar screen no matter if they are Aristocrats or whatever, etc. Why buy a low % dividend, losing money to inflation and waiting, just hoping the stock price will go up? I want to get paid now.. then I'll wait and hope.
I'm doing that now, collecting from the likes of etp, tpp.

  • Philip Morris International Is a Strong Buy [View article]
The issue isn't whether smoking is bad for you..it is.
It's all about is this a stock to own and make some money? Hey we are capitalists - making money is what we do. Hold the editorials and give some reasons to buy the stock.

  • The Bears' Skepticism Is Getting Old [View article]
Tom's got right this time.. by the time the bears say it safe to go into the water again - it's probably to late to pick the low hanging fruit. Be as it may, this is the way it has been in the past and I think the future. It's called human nature. What's the phrase.. the glass is half full/empty?

  • Lorillard Lights Up - Barron's [View article]
Few people dislike smoking as I do. I go out of my way to avoid smokers and the nasty smell.
Having said that, I owned both Altria and Reynolds.
Why? they make me money.. isn't that the reason we are all in the stock market?
I leave my bias at the trading door.
