I'm no expert, but off the top of my head, are they not enjoying unusually low NG prices and interest rates (as related to debt and their div return. If true, I don't understand what you expect their earnings growth drivers to be in the future, and they'll be hurt when NG prices and interest rates rise. Seems to me the time to take advantage of the opportunity has past.
Would of been interesting for BYD to buy Saturn (sold to Penske for $100-200M) and convert the infrastructure to produce electric cars. Seems like it would of been a cheap way to get up and running manufacturing facilities and a distribution channel. This assumes of course it would of been economic to convert existing designs, etc to electric vehicles.

Why do you think BB&T will be forced to cut their dividend, because they took TARP money? BBT did not need the money, but was stronly suggested by the regulators that they take it. BBT well knows that a majority of their individual investors count of the dividend. Yes, eah quarter BBT has had to raise their reserves, but in no way do I see them getting into deep trouble. I would be extremely surprised to see BBT cut their dividend. We'll see, earnings come out today.
