3G iPhone's Effect on Texas Instruments, Broadcom and STMicroelectronics
Texas Instruments is losing market share and will continue to lose market share without a better business plan. I know the claims of a fab light manufacturing facility but they have a fab in Houston, 3 fabs in Dallas, 1 fab in Sherman and a fab sitting empty in Richardson. Only 1 of these is at capacity. Does that sound like fab light manufacturing? Many of TI's customers starting buying from other companies, one must assume it is an either cost or quality issue. No way is it a lack of capacity!
ST Micro may displace TI from it number 2 spot! Maybe it is time for TI to wake up and get an aggressive business plan together.

Tuesday Options Update: MRK, SNDK, TXN, TAP, GTXI, SPF, BRCD, XLF
Texas Instruments does not have a bright future. It claims the future to be analog. Most analog chips are legacy technology. Those lower cost chips cannot be made in Texas Instruments aging U.S. fabs at a competitive price. Texas Instruments must shift to a fabless or near fab position quickly or it will continue in this downward spiral.

      Earnings Preview: Texas Instruments
Face TI has said they are going analog for the future. These are usually low price chips. For TI to continue in the future, they must continue to close their older fabs in the US and use overseas foundries. I hope that TI will announce closing of another fab this year to show they are facing the future and turn around their disappointing stock prices.
