My math ability is childish and my market analysis dismal as proved in 2000 and 2008. Taleb's theory, as he explains it, can be seen in nature, in economies, in family genology in well.... everything. The scary part is Taleb has stated the housing collaspe, which predicated this financial disaster was not a black swan event, that EVERYONE knew there was a housing bobble. The black swan event is still out there, be it bird flu, nuclear war, multiple government instability, asteroid, drug cartels, pourous borders etc.....
My black swan is liver cancer.

Actually Taleb was quoted as saying the liquidity crash wasn't even a Black Swan, that everyone knew there was a housing booble but few positioned themselves and fewer realized the extent. I am in that group.
I read all three of his books. His black swan theory applies to life style as well as living. I was diagnosed with cancer 6 years past so that was my black swan. For me, gambling and greed preempts risk averse tatics.
Now i'm paying the price. My new life was to begin Jan. 09. that is gone.
As a christian (also republican) i must take responsibility for my actions.
It saddens me deeply. No bailout for me, only work.

Dollar Rally Could be Short Lived

The destruction of billions of paper money, albeit the demise of financial institutions, reduced the amount of paper wealth of the dollar. Reduction in wealth is deflationary. If people do the logical thing and restrict purchases more deflation pressure is exerted. True, if the marxist guy gives everbody 1k each year, plus more $$ for volunteer work, such as driving teens to the local abortion mill (ie.. highschool) or going to nursing homes to entice folks into euthanasia, than wealth (false) is created causing inflation. Or if Iran should see no-spine in command, as did Irak/Syria and then conquer oil rich states, you will see inflation as energy commodities soar. Place your bets.

McAfee Battles Internet Bugs, Bigger Rivals - Barron's

For last few years we've read MSN, Google, AOL, Firefox et al provide these services. I myself purchase virus/spyware software and turnoff the
free stuff but still it presents a headwind. As for MY computer safety, i use CheckPoint's ZoneAlarm and am very happy. Why do I never hear checkpoint mentioned as security, other than Firewall?
