While the Kinect is 'old', it is not a one and done. There are so many other things that MSFT can (will) do with this tech. I have owned it since it came out and the amount of applications and mostly games that use it have greatly increased and continue to do so. Also I have noticed some fine tuning with the controlling software that make it much more responsive to the users actions.
I guess I would have to ask.... What do you define as innovation? Creation and production of brand new products? (Unlike Apple, FB, or most of the Tech Sector)
I was reading this on my computer and a $MSFT commercial for the Surface came onto Pandora (on my phone) at the same time... Almost like Big Data can now read my thoughts... *shivers*

RS,
Would could be the implications of the election and all the 'fuss' over taxes? Could GE end up paying a lot more taxes in the future? (http://bit.ly/OPbUcD) Could this bring some large downward pressure for the next 4 years?
Facebook (FB -2%) is getting tripped up by negative comScore data yet again. The research firm estimates U.S. Facebook PC use fell 20% Y/Y in September, worse than August's 14% drop. This leads Oppenheimer's Jason Helfstein to think estimates might be too high. A shift in activity to mobile devices is clearly one reason for declining PC use, but there's also some evidence younger Americans are just spending less time on Facebook in general. Because a week wouldn't be complete without a new Facebook (FB -2.1%) ad product, the company is now giving users the chance to pay $7 to use its Promoted Posts offering, until now aimed at businesses, to make sure an important post will appear near the top of their friends' news feeds. Separately, marketing chief Carolyn Everson says Facebook has begun tailoring its ad products to specific industries such as auto and telecom - GM must be pleased. [View news story]
I have android and they seem to come and go. Right now I have no ads in my news feed, but sometimes I will see 2 or 3 as I look through my feed.

It all depends on the angle they are dropped from kind sir. Any physical damage voids the warrenty. If they covered all damage that the users inflicted on their devices that would be out of business.
Nokia (NOK -8.1%) dives as it unveils the Lumia 920 at an NYC event. As expected, the Windows Phone 8-based 920 has a 4.5" display, supports wireless charging, and (perhaps critically) contains a PureView camera less impressive than the one in the Symbian-based 808. Also included is an augmented reality app called City Lens. Will this be enough for Nokia to gain significant ground against the iPhone 5 and Samsung's high-end lineup? (live blog) [View news story]
Opus, you have any numbers or links to smartphones sales outside of the US?
The jury handling the Apple-Samsung trial has begun reading its verdict. Thus far, over a dozen Samsung (SSNLF.PK) devices have been ruled to be infringing on multiple Apple (AAPL) patents. One patent covers scrolling, and another multi-touch gestures. (live blog) [View news story]
Thanks for presenting another side of the story. While I disagree with you and only see large downside on FB right now it is possible that after hitting ~12 (what I think) that it may have some upside.
I may open another short of FB within the next 72 hrs.

Wow! I didnt know VZW had 100% margin. Plus while the contract is 24 months, consumers can get a new phone every 20 months.
So imo your whole atricle is flawed.
