    Sadly, I had to give in with part of my shares. I have some in my IRA, and I'll hold those since my horizon is so far off. But my non-retirement shares -- Forget it. When I spend more time stressing about a stock than about my day job or my personal life, it's time to get out. Sorry to let the shorts win, I hate them, but I'm a weak man.

    @was_fred

    I've never been hurt in a car accident, so I think the people that complain about them are idiots, and I don't think they should have any recourse. *I've* never been in one, so I don't believe the people who say they have been.

    @zenbillionaire

    It would be nice to see corporations not misrepresent their products and effectively force the first round of purchasers to be conscripted beta testers. I *never* buy the firs wave of any technology, but someone who does has the right to not be mislead by a company.

    Long aapl. They're as bad as any other corporation on earth, but I'm in it for the money, and they're going up...

    Yeah, this woman's an idiot. I mean, there's absolutely no history in the Western world of corporations misrepresenting products or services. All corporations only, only, only care about their consumers and not their own profits or market share, so the concept of suing a company for promising a service then not delivering is ridiculous. When we have house contractors not do what they promise, or auto mechanics not do what they charge us for, we should just graciously accept being ripped off and not complain. Same with corporations.

  • Apple: Fraying at the Edges? [View article]
    And, no one in Japan had problems with Nano batteries, and no one had trouble with the Apple's laptop batteries despite a recall and several years ago no one had problems with milky spots on their lcd screens and before that no one had problems with their laptop cases developing hairline cracks... None of this ever happened because it didn't happen to you.

    I've never been in a plane crash, so I don't believe a Spanair jet really went down this week. I mean, *I've* never had that problem, so clearly no one has.

    I've had problems with every Apple product I've ever owned except my MacBook (bought about a year ago). Their customer service has been consistently mediocre and at times amazingly arrogant and patronizing. That being said, every Dell I've owned has had problems, but at least I can arrange for onsite service and not my machine for days or weeks as with Apple (or have to sit at presumptuously named "Genius Bar" with employees who rarely live up to name).

    Before any accuses me "user error", I make my living as a computer tech and developer and I know how to use them. I know when it's a computer and when it's me.

    Long aapl, so I should be out here saying how great they are. They're not. 60 extra days of bad service? A real apology would be issuing credit for the down time.

    kdart -- You should backup your hard-drive constantly. There's no excuse to ever lose more than a few hours's or single day's worth of work due to any crash. So, what if my hard-drive crashes? I pull my last backup off the tape or disk and thank myself for backing-up every day. Of course, restoring an OS may be harder than that, but, relatively speaking, not that hard.

    RReagan -- It was a pop for me, whatever the reason. I bought my last lot not too long ago and sold with a nice profit (but, it's just barely offsetting my losses on previous purchases).

    jmb476 -- Yeah, you're right about alot. But, I disagree with the evils of govt regulation -- Enron, banking and credit card abuses, airline failures, etc. -- I'm old enough to remember when these were properly regulated industries. They made their profits, and consumers weren't abused too badly. And about the loses of small investors -- Look at how long it took to help small mortgage holders, and that's a national crisis. Will anyone in power really pay attention to the abused SIRI investor?

    And I was trying to be nice (albeit with immense condescension). Now I'm just back to laughing at you.

    I have enough spine to know that whining a crying "but mommy, it's not fair" on a forum is meaningless.

    Where's your spine, bradley010a? Please tell us about the congresspeople you wrote to, and how you persistently followed-up until you got a real response instead of a form letter; or about the demonstrations or petitions you organized and delivered; Or other real, concrete actions you've taken to display this prized spine of yours.

    You made your point in an earlier post (here are your exact words):

    "I whine about those things on other blogs. I can whine all I want about Sirius on this Sirius blog."

    Is *that* what a spine is about? Anonymously whining?

    Geez, ok, I'm getting off this board. bradley010a, I apologize. Maybe you really are suffering financially over all this bs, in which case my philosophical, smarmy posts don't help you. I am genuinely offended when people hide their greed behind some kind of morality, but I also understand some people are genuinely being hurt by how SIRI has perormed, and I understand some people are genuinely outraged by the FCC, not just because of the stock issue.

    bradley010a, I am literally chuckling out loud as I write this. You know, I got a bit lucky and sold one lot of SIRI only a penny or so on the wrong side of the recent pop. That was profit. However, due to other SIRI purchases, I'm either still down or just barely even on the stock. It doesn't get me so angry that I curse and stamp my feet. IT'S THE STOCK MARKET. I took a chance. I may get hosed. The stock market isn't all supply/demand or technical analysis or trends -- It's about any and all forces at play in society, including potentially corrupt government and the fact that those with access to the media have immense power. You're very angry. If you're playing money you can't afford to lose, that's the problem. If you can't stomach the risk, that's the problem. If you can't accept the things that *really* drive the stock market, that's the problem, so put your money in professionally manage mutual funds.

    Poor, poor SIRI investors. You only care because you're losing money, so stop whining that it's about injustice or government immorality or whatever you're hiding behind. If a corrupt FCC did something that caused the stock to steadily climb, you wouldn't be crying.

    Injustice? Outrage at government abuses or games? Here are two ideas, there are plenty more: How about putting that energy into protecting soldiers who are effectively abandoned by our government when come back from Iraq and can't get proper health care or financial support for their sacrifices. Or fighting credit card companies that, due to loosening of govt regulations, charge default interest rates that were once considered usury; government collusion with industry to tap your phones. Those are real problems that affect real people, not just SIRI investors.

    Stop whining. It's the stock market. Things happen. Deal with it or buy mutual funds or something instead.

  • Satellite Radio Merger: It's All Up to Tate [View article]
    Well, Screamer, Larry Crow has a life outside of stock trading so apologizes for taking 3 hours to respond. I haven't followed this since the beginning, so I don't know all the history. I'm only pointing out that the FCC comm's holding out are highlighting regulatory issues and consumer protection, and people here are crying like it's un-American to uphold consumer laws and deter monopolies. If you want to now flame me for not knowing all the info (which I do not), then go ahead. But it's not the details, it's the principle -- People crying because their stock isn't going up, thinking that's more important than detering consumer abuses and monopolies.
