  • Reed's (REED +18.1%) bubbles higher after the natural soda maker says Q1 revenues rose 24% Y/Y to $8M, exceeding internal goals and outpacing 2012's average of 20% revenue growth across product lines. The company will report next Tuesday. [View news story]
Earth Fare dropped GT to bottom shelf moving Reed and Buchi to eye level with Hain on top shelf which was formerly occupied by GT Synergy. At time I anticipated it was all about promotional dollars to Earth Fare? We have learned GT uses tap water from LA while Reed Culture Club uses spring water. From conference call we learned manufacturing problems of 200,000 bottles of kombucha which was hand placing labels on from 3M. That was corrected with new labels and awaiting 100% increase in sku's of kombucha from Reed. Earth Fare has designated shelf space as my channel checks observed. Sales of all kombucha are flying off shelf.

whole foods earnings confirm reed percentage of growth! the surprise is the short position that maintains choosing not to acknowledge results and future momentum of revenue. private label with new distribution contract will continue to grow, natural sodas have higher exceeded revenue and kombucha though initially discounted has been at full pricing power this quarter.

  • Reed's CEO Discusses Q4 2012 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
lets discuss the whole picture which did not come out in conference call which directly effects earnings in quarter and going forward. when Reed discussed promotions facts are Reed Kombucha was retailing for $1.40 per bottle in Earth Fare for approximately 30 days and was raised to $2.89 after that and finally after UNIFI strike was settled to $3.69. Meanwhile competitors included big one GT Synergy, Buchi, and Hain Celestial. My channel checks confirmed sales reported in conference call. In fact visiting stores in Mid West and Florida and talking to stock and sales associates revealed the startling results which Kombucha at even higher prices continues to sell briskly. I questioned why Trader Joes in florida and ohio did not carry Kombucha? In fact Reed Soda is readily available in organic, mainstream, and specialty stores including Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Giant Eagle, Kroger, Earth Fare etc. Most of the stores even had single bottles in refrigerated cases along with 4 packs. In my estimation looking at promotional pricing and figures of $2.5 million in sales of Kombucha in 4th quarter and the problems with labels and shipping/mfering Reed is being very conservative in going forward. Doubling line of sku's will not cannibalize percentage sales. In fact unique flavors which are truly different than GT Synergy will promote all flavors. My channel checks reveal exactly the market is wide open and in many areas Whole Foods is the dominant player in Kombucha with presently only GT Synergy in the stores I visited. Trader Joes cannot continue to ignore the return on investment which is higher then the average bottled sku. Same can be said of Kroger. Reed does not have to wait 5 to 7 years to be a thorn in the side of majors including Hain Celestial. In fact I can name several organic mfers whom Reed would be a great fit and would be able to expand immediately and who have the financials to take Reed under their wing. True the market is not doing any favors to whole group including Whole Foods which even Mr CNBC questioned earnings & growth? This is same group who blew off Hansen with Monster Energy Drinks and told audience to short it all way up. Now Monster is continuing as the name says. I am referring early years of Monster way before energy drink litigation which has not been fruitful in litigation. Yes, I was early investor in Hansen and same in Reed.

  • The overall focus of consumers in the energy drinks market starts to shift away from the high-adrenaline type of drinks from Monster Beverage (MNST), Red Bull GmbH, and Coca-Cola (KO) toward healthier (real or perceived) versions. A key part of the trend is the expansion of interest and sales outside the 18-30 age demographic. Players in the new cycle: Sensient Technologies (SXT), Jamba (JMBA), and Starbucks (SBUX) with its new Refreshers line. [View news story]
employees in Earth Fare & Whole Foods rave about fast turn of Kombucha. Earth Fare restocks case every other day! avg retail price is $3.69 for Reed and Buchi $3.99 while Hain is $3.49 and GT synergy $3.89. of course prices subject to change weekly, however channel checks over 2 month period shows prices rising not dropping. In Whole Foods in Naples, Fla privately held GT Synergy dominates sales with both alcohol and alcohol free Kombucha. Reed Soda is on promotion in Giant Eagle in Ohio and Earth Fare. shelves we're bare in Giant Eagle. Results of quality organic gluten free soda! Reed is doubling flavors to 8 on Kombucha. Reed results in sales of Kombucha will be closest pure play to fast selling profitable drink which must be refridgerated eliminating some competition. Reed does have private label business and the already mentioned organic bottled soda business. Latest revenue for Reed is $30 million for year. Mgmt has been growing Reed 20% year and this year may be higher. I look for surprise in earnings not this last quarter which hasn't been reported but quarter we are in. .

  • Future Dividend Increase Candidates [View article]
artw downplayed their future earnings before their conference call. eps was up to $.66 giving artw strong financial position with no short term debt. I expect contrary to projections the first quarter to have strong earnings on the backlog etc. Dan Palmer the head of Scientific which contribuited strongly to earnings has completed the showcase of projects at Stanford University. The credibility of the project in lab research will bring in more contracts. As artw has left low margin contracts in Scientific it is wise to assume earnings and revenue may surprise street by years end. Newest division Universal Harvester manufactures reels for combines for Agco & CNH and independent dealers. My belief this division is nuts and bolts and needs be expanded from a regional area of Iowa etc to across country by acquisitions contribuiting to sales of all artw farm machinery including grinders, augers, sugar beet havesters and dairy equipment. Vessels last division mfers liquid containers for Culligan etc and should have positive revenue and earnings this year.

obviously you are not realizing cdti merged with their compatible competitor and now mfer their own product cutting costs and time. you are relying on outdated model and revenue which is no longer applicable. you should know past is not indicative of future. in this case shorts as you are live in past and ignore facts.

i commented earlier on another article related to short side and disputed author on cdti. it is the overwhelming facts that this author points out, "china," furthermore the other article on your site failed mention bond issuance which put $3 million in coffers for operations. neither author brings up revenue in "england," being this company closed merger within last year they now mfer their own product which in past they we're more of a designer distribuitor. being an oem with several auto co's and truck mfer's brings in steady revenue. updating semi's in "ca" will bring in huge revenue in coming years starting now. market has not been looking forward and with a relatively small float volume is tremendous which on any more news will not be a wise move to be on short side in the meantime it makes the pops interesting. looking back before last quarter the company was admittely short on revenue with bond issuance and contracts i believe it has been addressed.

here are financial facts ommitted: may 9, 2011 $3 million in convertible bonds sold. how author missed this? may 18, 2011 $1.45 million to be paid upon reaching milestones in CHINESE market within 14 months. market is obviously polluted and maybe much larger USA. still to be heard from ENGLAND. as usual author is short side and ommitted facts. i cannot determine price fluctuations but the convertible bonds are redeemable @ $7.00 which suggests much higher stock price in 2012. furthermore upon sale bonds no orders from china or recent order from california had been signed. now tell me there is no forward looking cash flow in house?

  • Vertro's New App Strategy a Game Changer? [View article]
they are competing among others, BING, GOOG, YHOO, & working with them. while LOCM does local search the end result is same. taking a bite out of the big boys and getting paid for it. look for VTRO to stay stand-along as long as they can. the market share in BRAZIL is intriquing. as VTRO seems to be more global. a merger seems more likely with another small search engine/or advertising engine. with all controversy surronding LOCM and revenue generated by them they will have to do something with cash flow & profit. the market gives them no credit at all thats why a merger/takeover makes sense. as VTRO is on verge profit LOCM is already there. i expect be slammed for stating obvious.
