  • Kinder Morgan: A Solid Dividend Stock For 2015 [View article]
    KMR and Anasazi,

I have NO doubts in Kinder, whatever assets possibly acquired, whether a portion, or All (100%) of an entity.

I have twined pipelines when I could have bought existing competitor assets accomplishing my goals. There is Always an Opportunistic time for redistributing CapX to Acquiring instead of Building Out! The Incremental Economic Justifications are constantly evaluated for such Opportunity. Joint Venture is a salvaged attempt to own All (100%) of the opportunity.

The smartest deployment of capital is when the opportunities are presented. We ARE there!! One must be prepared and cash rich and or credit worthy. Distributions and Dividends are secondary in the times of opportunity and may be held flat, even reduced to accomplish the acquisition.

The Opportunities rest in those cutting CapX, trying to make their distribution (Worthy Upside). To a lesser degree those reducing/eliminating their distributions (Spunt, Limited Upside and plenty of Debt. Those are the FOR SALE signs of Opportunity.

Those found in Bankruptcy have little meat on the bone to consider.

Who are the candidates for Kinder's next acquisition? All the above is not an answer!

    Petrarch,

Mitigating risk on Wall Street's Crap Table indicates intrinsic risk, no matter the acts of mitigation.

Stuffing the mattress with dollars while the dollar trends higher against all other major currencies is sound investing too, right!

Preserving the cash used to be an attribute of the misleaders?

    rlp2451,

Mergers & Acquisitions galore, for those having assets worth buying. Those with little asset value, hiding their over leveraged assets will have no Buyers, only Bankruptcy Protection.

Is the Midstream Bubble is now about to break as well? Those reducing Distributions are FOR SALE!

I wonder if Kinder has TRP on their acquisition radar?

Oh, but wait, are the North American Midstream's about to get cheaper? The next DROP in WTI could be devistating?

    Agreed Gigem77,

I don't care what excuse Producers concoct, the goal is to cease throwing capital at unfracked wells, leave them on the Fracklog, unfracked, until prices merit further capital expenditure. Otherwise, the Glut/Bubble of Surplus Oil gets Bigger!

Raising rates is certainly an option.

My speculation has NO rate increase in 2015.

There are simply not enough overwhelming points to merit an increase. Instead, Deflation is more of a concern than Inflation. The rest of the World is just beginning to Ease, any increase here inflicts havoc to the rest of the world.

  • Delay seen in oil price recovery, as increasingly the rock is the storage [View news story]
Prepare for many Mergers and Acquisitions over the next 12 months in the Upstream, Midstream and Service Suppliers. The carnage is starting. Those Buyers will be identified by raising Cash. The Sellers will be more numerous and identified by cutting Dividends/Distributions. Any Seller filing for bankruptcy protection is likely burdened with assets exhibiting little upside for a Buyer's consideration.

Is it time to accumulate shares in those speculated to be the Sellers? I am.

  • Transocean Slashes Dividend By 80%. Now What? [View article]
    Casey,

Appears to me those Service Suppliers cutting their Div or Distribution are putting up the FOR SALE sign!

Is the M&A activity about to boom? Exxon's Tillerson sure indicated looking for another XTO sized reserve addition this week. There is always a time when Acquisitions make more sense than using the Bit! Producers failing to replace their reserves are certainly FOR SALE.

The Midstream Space should see more consolidations like Williams just completed. Your holdings look like the Buyers. Who do you think are the Midstream Sellers? Too many in the Midstream space cutting CapX Buildouts, so that may be a FOR SALE sign, surely for those contemplating cutting their Distribution.

Halliburton and other Major Service Suppliers may continue buying competitors if the assets and sales book are priced right.

  • DCP Midstream Partners - A Solid Fourth Quarter, But Storm Clouds On The Horizon [View article]
Are these assets up for Sale? If a JV Partner finds a portion worth buying, why not acquire the entire LLC and MLP outright? Harold Hamm could have sold a portion of his Affiliate Gathering System to a JV Partner but sold out instead. The DCP Assets are well placed for the Long Term, facilities deployed throughout drilling projects in known major proven fields. Why compete by laying competing pipelines and facilities when they can be acquired? Tillerson indicated this week the possibility of Exxon shopping for another XTO size reserve addition. There are many Midstream Asset Buyers gathering cash and willing to issue stock to acquire cherries like DCP!

    Elliot,
What about the Merger & Acquisition option? Williams recently had a merger as one example.

  • Transocean Slashes Dividend By 80%. Now What? [View article]
    Casey,

Why not go to cash and wait on all the bad news from overproduction to play out? No Driller/Service Supplier should be on the Buy List, right? There are much better bets to be made on Wall Street's crap table right now versus so many of the oilpatch's falling knives.

I am adding to select Midstreamers only.

    Ms. J,

The Data Rooms are busy trying to get deals closed before the Write Downs are published. It will be most interesting to see what Buyers are willing to pay the private Sellers.

CapX is being cut to transfer to Acquisitional budgets. Upstreamers can replace reserves through acquisitions. It most likely makes more sense versus risking CapX on the bit.
