I wouldn't look for an improvement in consumer credit any time soon. Small business credit which is often counted in with consumer credit is going down as the proprietors reduce debt and are in no hurry to borrow. Unemployment continues to get worse and we all know that the jobless usually don't take on new debt even if they wanted to. Credit card debt going down as Chucky deleverages and more defaults are written off. Those who still have jobs are less than confident and they too are in no hurry to borrow more. I can't wait to see the results of the treasury auction. Time to short Bucky?

de5 is correct the only green shoots are the green backs shooting off of the printing press. "BRIC" econmies will give thier green house gas reduction plans later, right, they will fall right in line with the developed economies. What was that comment about Wimmpy? Double Guns' observation also aplies to the IMF projection 2.5% growth? Puleees. There is a bright spot though, ALCOA lost millions of dollars again this quater but it wasn't as bad as expected. When will this not as bad as we thought is actualy good paradigm be tossed. You can't keep peeing on our shoes and telling us it's raining.

I agree with Serge insofar as the "bullish bias" being unsupported by underlying fundamentals. That being said I am a buy to hold investor day trading gives me a headache and the thier whipsaw world can cause whiplash for the less than skilled. When the DIA breaks below 8000 I will resume bargain hunting as there will be some bargains out there. So for traders and investors alike build up your cash positions, maintain your watch list and do your due dilligence there is money to be made by all. And as Serge said it won't be the end of the world you just can't keep a good market down forever.
