The Chubb Corporation: Dividend Stock Analysis [View article]
Nice article. very compelling. Chubb is a very well managed company. High quality stock. Growth maybe a bit slow but again industry leader, I consider Chubb best of bread in their industry.
Real Estate: The Truth at the Heart of the Crisis [View article]
FRAUD. that is what is different. The average 'Joe" didn't have a problem committing fraud and banks didn't care because the sold their paper to foreigners. What is different is the average person feels no remorse for defaulting on their borrowering..
I keep reading over and over on how the banks are mean because they won't write off 300K off of someones mortgage. Personal responsibility is gone and now we are spreading the pain to everyone else. Now I get to pay for someone elses mortgage and mine too.

Lake Tahoe sure miss it. What a beautiful place..
I too believe some of the stronger apt reits will make great long term buys. I haven't taken a position in any apt reits yet but have been looking at AVB, EQR, BRE.
Why Is It So Hard to Modify a Mortgage? [View article]
Mortgage Modification via a Govt Mandate just another ponzi scheme!! Just wish I wasn't the funding source of this social experiment. The real issue is so many people haven't taken responsibility. I keep reading people complaining that live in Million dollar houses who can't make their mortgage payment. My question when did it become my responsiblity to make sure someone can live in a big house in a very beautiful place in the world. Do we owe our fellow American a 4/3/3 3500 sq. feet home? I healthcare is a legitimate concern, the housing crissis is a joke let the homes go into foreclosure.. I have always wanted a 2nd home near the beach.
My brother has own this one for a long time. I plan on taking a small position today. I have been watching this stock for a few years. I for one don't think all REITS are going to zero.
The only reit I own is NLY. I plan on adding O to the list of Reits owned.
First Quarter Dividend Statistics - What to Make of Them? [View article]
nice article. I disagree in one thing some of the bank dividend cuts were a surprise. Ex. JPM dividend cut really surprised me along with WFC. In WFC case the raised it in the last 12 months prior to cutting in a big way. I do agree dividend investors do monitor their holdings and their are plenty of companies that pay and increase their dividends.
The Government's Massive Cover Up of the Economic Crisis [View article]
Nice article. I have been in mortgage banking for over 17 years and yes I believe their has been fraud at the highest levels of banking. The government does want the fraud to stop because they benefit. Think about it the very same banks who have toxic assets want to compete in purchasing toxic assets! Example Chase can sell their toxic assets to Wells with government backing; then Wells can sell theirs to Chase. Win win for the big corporation.. I don't hear the public upset that the taxpayer keeps subsidizing the top 1% & corporations. Obama doesn't stand for the forgotten man but rather the govt union man & UAW man.
Time for Cisco to Make Some Acquisitions? [View article]
Here is an idea. How about Cisco start paying a dividend. THey have bought something like 140 companies over the last decade. Web EX and Scientific Atlantic being the biggest ones. How about rewarding long time shareholders, CEO CHAMBERS is one of top 10 paid CEO's over the last decade. Why doesn't my stock price reflect this.
All Aboard for Railroad Opportunities [View article]
Nice article. In light of the slowdown these companies are trading at 5 year low PE;s and 5 year high dividend yields. Long term growth rate projections of 10% or higher in some cases. One may look to start a position or take a page out of Buffett's playbook and sell an out of the money put. I think Rails at these levels are beginning to look interesting.
Is Real Estate Investing Our Best Shot at Wealth? [View article]
Your primary residences isn't an investment but rather a form of consumption. Your principal residence will not be the path to financial success. Too many people believe that owning ones own home is a great financial idea, they are wrong. Many times renting is a better option.
Your income portfolio is in sectors that have been really beaten down, not a bad idea if you can hold on for the long term. I would have like to see your portfolio have a little more diversification. thanks for sharing.
