  • Facebook's Dual Class Shares: Another Reason to Avoid This Company  [View article]
I hate the seemingly arbitrary selection process that elevated Facebook to the top of the social networking scene. I reminds me of the success profile of a popular bar. The music, the furnishings, the rancid smell of beer on the floor, and yet all your friends are there and refuse to go anywhere else. A place that offers no more, and more than likely, much less service than the others, yet because of random coagulation of people, it's a hit.

That said, Facebook can be a joy if you monitor it closely. Unfortunately, the buy-in required is not high enough to ensure honest behavior, but as a backup to personal contact, it works. There has to be a feedback loop, however. That mysterious guy from high school who lives out of town and never comes to town? Don't friend him. That single mom who can't get rid of her ex? Don't friend her, either.

  • Why a Market Crash Doesn’t Matter [View article]
I completely disagree. Few people succeed at making money with specific company stocks. We must be diverse to avoid that one stock that brings down your equity so low, that you need a second job to pay the rent.

However, this deserves more attention and debate than Charles H Smith's doomsday mongering. To see the flaws in our version of capitalism as clearly as Charles sees them, is almost by definition to be a complete anti-social non-participant. He probably turns the Girl Scouts away from his door, because they don't have a 20% deposit down on the club house ;-)

    Keep posting gang!

  • The Facebook 'Death Star' Moves Through the Web Universe [View article]
How do you get rid of a "Friend of a Friend" on Facebook? I can remove somebody from my Friends list, but I cannot remove them from my Friends Friend Lists and this means they can see my postings and pictures and stuff.

I guess this is a lot of like life.

oops.. wrong site for this question

  • The Great Bing Scam [View article]
"Of course, Microsoft had to correct this problem quickly, "
Correct? Whose corrected? My IE 6.0 still goes to BING, and I did not put it that way.

And what happened to those huge wonderful full screen BING images? Mine seem to have shrunk into a framed smaller size.

  • 10 Bullish Option Spread Strategies [View article]
    Agree with naysayers here..
There is a reason these Bull Spreads are so cheap to get into, low chance these stocks move up that high that fast in the dog days of summer.
I have tried your strategy so many times only to see the stock trade sideways or down. As a matter of fact, I am holding your Bull Call Spread idea for USO from MAY 12 (seekingalpha.com/artic...)
    and losing money on it.

Just saying.. this is a high risk strategy. My covered calls in WFC, BAC, and F are bringing me better sleep at night.

Were those GOOG 480 Calls? Or Puts? That thing looked scary at the close today. Still loving that WM strategy you outlined earlier.

I applaud Phil for finding a stock so cheap with such a high out-of-the-money Call that it makes this trade (WM) work.
Awesome! I would love to be able to repeat this strategy, but many of my favorite cheap stocks have such a cheap near term Call price, the covered call trade is not worth it.
Guess you have to pay the fee to get more of this pin action?
