  • The claim that conservative policies of new presidential candidate Gov. Rick Perry caused an economic miracle in Texas is a myth based on a fallacy, Paul Krugman writes. "A state offering cheap labor and... weak regulation can attract jobs from other states," but any logic applying those policies to the entire U.S. is impossible since "every state can’t lure jobs away from every other state."  [View news story]

i agree. aro is trading at less than 6x operating cash flows + throw in another 139 million in cash and no debt. my wife is a teacher and the kids are still wearing it. no parents want to shell out money for ANF clothes. Aero looks good and its a great value. I like the company and I love the stock

operating cash flow for aol is 600 million per year. they have 700 million net cash on the balance sheet. if this thing were trading at a super conservative 3x operating cash flow it would be worth 2.5 billion. the thing is at 2 billion. with 700 million in CASH! the aol name and the recent PATCH launch is only worth 1.3 billion? seriously?

  • A major split is emerging within the Federal Reserve over requiring big banks to maintain more capital, Simon Johnson writes, with NY Fed hardening its position favoring lower capital ratios and allowing banks to resume paying dividends. Johnson says this would allow banks to "misallocate resources during the good times and crash just as badly when the next downturn comes."  [View news story]
