  • Chambers Street: More Liquidity Magic On The Way In REIT-Dom [View article]
If "Chambers Street will focus its dividend policy on the retail investor base..." any idea whether they are going to pay quarterly or monthly? People like monthly.

  • DRIP Investing: How To Actually Invest Only A Hundred Dollars Per Month [View article]
I'm assuming none of the resources above work when trying to set up a Roth. You mentioned $8.95 at a discount broker. When working with my young adult daughter to start her DGI Roth portfolio, we went with TradeKing. They charge $4.95 a trade. And after the first few months we will only purchase every 3 months, in order to bring down the cost to 1.65% ($300/$4.95)

And then we set up a DRIP with them.

  • Smart Investors Should Ignore The Gimmick Of Intel Share Buybacks [View article]
What matters on a stock buyback is not whether the total value of the enterprise has changed, but whether each shares portion of the enterprise value has increased.

That's why the stock price should go up, each share now represents a greater piece of the enterprise.

Pretty sure he meant sell a covered call. If you did that your break even point on the downside was $37 and you are still ahead of the game unless stock went over $48. And you get the dividends.

I'm really surprised to see you advocating the growth mutual funds for 20-40 and growth/income for 40-60 rather than dividend growth stocks in a Roth.

Let it ride. If it gets called, you made a very nice profit of at least $7 on the stock, and $1 on the option, and 2 more dividends along the way.

  • Why You Should Save For Your Kids' Retirement: The Power Of Time [View article]
I have a 28 year old daughter. I'd love to start a Roth for her and invest in DGI stocks, but I'm afraid at some point they might need some cash and "rob" it.

Anyone know of a (easy) way to prevent this?

I've been reading your articles..... I made the call on my own. :>) This is first time I've done an option specifically trying to DD the dividend. (my first option was June 8th). I'll post how it turns out.

I attempted the Double Dip on Dow today. It opened sharply lower, so the possible "buy at 32.84, sell a call at 33.00" scenario disappeared quickly.

But I put in an order limit at 31.95, got it fulfilled, and sold a 32 for .85c. So I pocketed $79 after commissions. Dow ended at 32.24 so I suspect it gets called tomorrow, and I'll be out without the DD but plus $81.
