Individual Investor Challenge: Can You Succeed by Going It Alone? [View article]
Great.. In 1995 I turned over a $223,000 deferred income account to be managed by a rather large somewhat prestigious fund management company.. When I moved this investment in 2005, it was worth $196,000.... I gave it to another rather large somewhat prestigious fund manager, and today it has a value of $201,000. When I retired, {Jan 2008} I took 50,000 of my available funds , opened an online account, and started investing myself. As of yesterday this account had a value of $126,357. This, in spite of the major downturn. And, I think I used most of the qualities outlined in your article. So, tell me again, what IS the value in not doing it yourself. And, I am no Jim Cramer... tho I like the guy.
I remember not 20 years ago ,that several senior execs at a "Fortune 500" company, were fired for "prebilling" sales in order to "make the number" It actually cost several people their careers, most of whom were sideline players, unsure of the game. The people responsible then, had been "GE Plastics" trained. What a coincidence!
Is it just me or does Mr. Imelt have trouble completing any sentence lately? The man has lost all credibility and its time for him to be on his way. I want a confident leader, and he certainly shows non of that.
