Let us thank our Lord for OSHA in the 'Good-O-USA' where dust control is under close supervision for just this reason. Cost's more sure, but we go home to our family's.

I think most people can read between the lines what's being said here.

  • Plug Power prices 18.6M-share stock offering at $0.54, shares tumble [View news story]
Remember Plug has a huge reverse stock split card in it's back pocket.
I am a holder that has already gone through 1 for 10 and nothing to show for it.
Great product but for some reason they are afraid to enter the home retail market where vast profits lay UN-touched. WHY?
Especially with the combined heat and power option.
Mini fuel cells powering neighborhoods are even better than mini nuke plants. Instead we ship our gas over seas and continue to have energy insecurity.
Go take a look at a small FC plant in the 5, 10, 15 megawatt range, see how quite it is, notice it's small foot print, try to smell or see even a hint of pollution. You are going to get your socks knocked off when you see how nice it really is. Then ask yourself WHY? why build huge transmission grids with huge losses of power, why build coal fired power plants even now, why pay huge fright costs to haul coal, Why let electric companies charge higher and higher prices for more and more unreliable power. Why, Why, Why?
When a better answer is sitting on the table!

  • Electric vehicles a hot topic at Frankfurt Auto Show [View news story]
In 25 years every other car in America will be an alternative fuel vehicle.
Electric cars will be a very large part of that equation.
In 50 years fuel cells will power the electric cars of the future and the internal combustion engine in passenger applications will be a thing of the past.
25 years is such a short period of time, the future is upon us right now.

  • Some color and context from Nomura's highly publicized Nikkei 18K call: The bank's strategists "do not brush off recent stock market turmoil lightly" and note that a close below Nikkei 12,362 may be particularly significant. The bank's forecast is based on the idea that earnings are recovering and global P/Es are expanding. Japanese stocks (EWJ, DXJ) are "once again trading at lower P/E ratios than U.S. stocks," the bank notes, adding that "if the average P/E ratio of U.S. stocks rises to 16x around H2 … Japanese stocks' P/E ratio could rise to 17x." [View news story]

  • You've probably made up your mind already about whether you're going to buy Facebook (FB) when it debuts. More than likely, you're buying - at any price, too. However, before you place your order it's important to remember the risks involved. None of them are news to you, I'm sure, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't reconsider them nonetheless. All Things D lists the 10 most important here.  [View news story]

  • Once more taking a bearish tone, Marc Faber sees the West having "very muted growth" over the next 10 years thanks to a combination of deficits, entitlement obligations, and debt overhang. Faber recommends investors keep 20-30% of their assets in gold "in a safe deposit box ideally outside the U.S." (previously)  [View news story]
    Mark,
Just which country do you think is not going to steal the gold deposited in it, just like every country has done in the past. The Swiss come to mind in a big way. And getting it back into the US without our government taking it would be a miracle in itself just like in the 30's your gold will be gone for very little hard asset backed money.

I think the best thing to do is between the collapse when there is no control and the seizing by the government to start control again, is to turn your gold into a hard productive asset that will be able to make money again once this all blows over just like Warren is doing very quietly right now. I think there will be a six month window after all of the devaluations are over to make this type of move.

    Timing will be everything!

WARNING - DO NOT KEEP YOUR GOLD ANYWHERE WHERE THE GOVERNMENT CAN GET THEIR HANDS NEAR IT.

  • The Obama administration finds itself stuck in the middle of the foreclosure market supply glut with 92K houses it looks to unload. Their solution? FHFA, Treasury and HUD want investors - large and small - to send in ideas on how to unload the properties. (.pdf)  [View news story]
How about giving people with sound credit history's WHO HAVE NEVER HAD A CREDIT-PAYMENT problem WITH ANYBODY a chance to buy these homes for what they can afford to pay for them. It might not be the market price but these will be sound people who will pay their bills and taxes and rebuild and stabilize neighborhoods. Not mention they will also work like heck to take care of their home.

These are good hard working people, who know how to live on their paychecks. That's why they are not in this mess to start with, they know how to live within their means. Worth a try!

Better than us taxpayers eating the whole bill.
