I'm one of probably millions of boomers that used to believe in 'buy and hold'. I've been putting money into IRA's and mutual funds for years, but since the last big market meltdown I've really become jaded in thinking that any investment advisor or company is genuinely interested in my financial security. So I've decided to take charge of my own retirement destiny. Currently I'm only working with a fraction of my total portfolio with the expectation that as I develop my own strategy I'll gradually take charge of it all. Due to my short timeframe until retirement (10 yrs if I'm lucky) I'm really interested in dividend paying stocks and how to generate income from my portfolio. Finding SeekingAlpha and the wealth of ideas it provides has really been a boost to my investing outlook.
