Middle East Investing: Look Below the Surface

Most of the development that's going on in the Gulf is catered to attract Western investors and tourists. They simply have too much money and don't a clue what to do with except competing against one another in a building huge projects that look spectacular, but have no economic value. Look at the region around these rich oil states and you find poverty. They hate their neigbors (Yemen, Iraq and Syria). They import cheap labor from Indian subcontinent and subject them to all kind of abuse and humilation. All they are doing to show off their wealth.

Their stock markets are fakeand can easily be manipulated.
I will be very careful investing there. They are going into infrastructure building frenzy that seems to bubble.
