Conclusion: As reported by the firm's 10-K dated 10/13/1999, on July 2, 1996, the Company had a class action lawsuit filed against it by shareholders. The class action was brought on behalf of all persons and entities who purchased shares of common stock from May 13, 1996 to June 27, 1996. In April 1999, the lawsuit was settled with the Company agreeing to pay $170,631 for shareholder losses and associated legal fees. The $170,631 liability has been accrued in the accompanying financial statements as of June 30, 1999.
According to the Order of Dismissal with Prejudice entered on July 19, 1999, all claims, defenses, and causes of action asserted in the action by Plaintiffs as against Defendants, and all related affirmative defenses, may be dismissed with prejudice. Each party shall bear its own costs and attorneys' fees incurred herein.
The original complaint charges IAS and its President, Neldon Johnson, with violations of the federal securities laws. Plaintiff specifically alleges that defendants artificially inflated the price of IAS common stock by issuing false and misleading statements regarding the company's introduction of a purportedly new and revolutionary communications technology called Digital Wave Modulation.
Digital Wave Modulation was a total scam. and this current press release smells a bit scammy also.

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--INTERNATIONAL Automated Systems, Inc. (Pink Sheets:IAUS) and RENEWABLE Energy Development Corporation (REDCO) are pleased to announce that REDCO will be working with IAS to purchase IAS’s solar panels and new bladeless turbine for utility-scale solar projects.
After completing its due diligence of the IAS technology that included a thorough analysis of the independent engineering review of IAS’s new solar panels and turbine, REDCO has concluded that the IAS technology is commercially viable.
The third party engineering review was conducted by reputable engineers with Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Physics, Mechanical Engineering and Nuclear Engineering from prestigious Universities such as M.I.T., U.C. Berkley, U.C. Davis, and DePaul. Collectively, these scientists have many years of accumulated specialized expertise in optical engineering and efficiency, thermal dynamics, combustion stability, liquid rocket engine performance, system optimization, mechanical and fluid systems analysis, solid and gel propellant performance, structural dynamics, rotating machinery and vibration with application to turbine blade rubbing. This review supports that the IAS bladeless turbine and solar panels meet and in some cases exceed all performance and efficiency projections. Perhaps the most telling outcome of this independent engineering review was the conclusion that the IAS bladeless steam turbine can operate as a part of an overall closed loop system or as a stand-alone component.
The composite analysis also supports that compared to other solar technologies the IAS technology has a higher overall annual efficiency factor than photovoltaic (PV), traditional concentrated solar power (CSP) such as towers and troughs, and is better or comparable to CSP dish technology. The net conclusion is that based on the functionality and the low-cost design, an IAS solar thermal power plant needs to convert only 5% of the gross annual solar energy hitting its panels to electricity in order to compete with the lowest priced solar technology available today. An IAS solar thermal power plant has an annual solar-to-electric efficiency of nearly 24%.

Thanks Charlie - I didn't know the stats off the top of my head but those numbers you cite are surprisingly bad. Makes this stock much more attractive. this test could save many millions of dollars and lives. thanks again.

$300 per test is an absolute bargain to detect CRC early. the question is how many false negatives will docs allow. 2%, 3%? how many cases are you willing to risk by not doing colonoscopy which in the hands of an experienced spec tech is probably 0%.

"the company will commence a Clinical Study measuring the effectiveness of the company's LEAPS technology in the treatment of H1N1-hospitalized patients"...
come on... that's not what they're doing in this study. and this is not a clinical study it is a lab study. just like doing expression arrays on tumor samples is a lab study. H1N1 will be long gone by the time LEAPS makes it into the clinic.

user476730 - I agree with you its wrong - especially when you are touting cancer stocks which carry extra emotional baggage for some investors. But that's the nature of the market - it aint kindergarten. Vinny is doing what many hedge funds do. it takes balls to do it but its a souless existence. but the pay is pretty good I'm sure. like I said emptor caveat.
Four Biotech Stocks to Play the Sector Pullback [View article]
Vinny has made it his way with good old American initiative and a tiny bit of greed. His whole life (traveling, entertainment, meals, etc.) is a tax write of as long as he blogs about it on his site. I'm sure he is getting some shares of all these companies somehow and making a good deal of dough but this is America and this is how money is made these days -- Emptor caveat. If it's OK for Goldman it should be OK for Vinny. He's the one at the keyboard every day (unless he's paying some high school kid to write this stuff) so give him his due and move on.

BTW the experts were not predicting global cooling in the 70s. they were highlighting the discovery that the global current had stalled in the past. The drop in flow due to decreased salinity of surface water from melting ice caused the global climate to cool dramatically in a much shorter time than had been thought possible . that is still a possibility today and would be a byproduct of warming. either way we're screwed if it comes to pass.
Global Markets in Review: Reversal in Financial Markets [View article]
I've considered the possibility I'm being duped and decided I am not. I prefer the scientific approach to the conspiratorial and the data clearly makes the case that dramatic (in the decadal time frame) climate change is likely to occur but not inevitable. I have young children and they don't deserve to pay for your lack of responsible planning. The beauty is that smart folks everywhere will make money and not just a few.
Global Markets in Review: Reversal in Financial Markets [View article]
According to a Yale survey ~7% of respondents were considered to be complete climate change deniers who considered the whole thing to be a conspiracy cooked up by academics to keep the grant money flowing. I'm pretty sure Geofster might be in that camp and therefore the more fanatically religious as he is hoping against science. Ask the catholics how that turned out in the case of Copernicus and Galileo.
Global Markets in Review: Reversal in Financial Markets [View article]
I didn't say implement a carbon tax next week. But it will happen and the US will be better off for it. Even the screaming babies on the right will benefit. I'm not a socialist - I believe we should pay our own way. in light of the 41% tipping point stated in the article it is high time we did just that and quit crying about taxes. we need to raise revenues by increasing taxes about 2 % and increasing GDP by 5%. Going back to Clinton rates is not socialism. getting competitive and making and exporting the things the world needs is not socialism. supply side/deficit doves fucked us over once again we are paying for it. there is no free lunch fellas. learn it. live it.
