  • Is LinkedIn's Turnaround A Possibility Or A Pipe Dream? [View article]
    Something missing?

I still feel like there is a level of "quality publishing" that is missing on the various "group articles," and discussions. They are obviously ran by members, and lacking in writing dynamics.

Expecting an "engineer" to run, or write, an interesting segment on "team management," would be like being surprised that the gardener couldn't do a decent "crown" in your mouth. (Sorry for that engineers).

The articles and discussions are mostly "trite." Most comments are "Nice article."

I know that the various professional groups are formed and managed by members, but maybe LinkedIn should assign a "journalist" to assist each group. (I know that could be a "land mine" attempt to intervene,)

I still see no professional looking advertising. And, how about industry related cartoons. Some of the best cartoons are "inside Jokes."

I can't believe I am giving all this "free" consulting.... to LInkedIn, but maybe .....like most of the professional groups, they don't want to hear "It."

Give me a call.....I have more ideas on ....making LinkedIn a place.....professionals want to visit every day.....not just when they need a job.

  • Apple: I Did Not Ignore The 68 Million iPhone 6 Order Rumor [View article]
    Doubt wisdom?!

Apple has been a great investment for many dedicated Apple shareholders, but I question the wisdom of the author's comment, "I bought Apple today....." Because he thinks it could go to $100???

At any time, a stock has a risk of going "Up," or "Down." If the stock is at $95 and you think it might go to $100......Why would you rush in to make another $5, whereas, that stock has a downside risk of .....maybe $60 (Like in the recent past).

Think of it as a bouncing ball......"How high is the bounce?" Looks like to much risk.....for the reward. But, if you bought Apple near the bottom, I understand your "joy," and optimism, but I wouldn't rush out to buy more.....to make that last five dollars.

I guess the bigger question is......"How much of the 68 million sales for the iPhone 6....is built into the current $95??

  • Don't Tell The iWatch What It Can't Do [View article]
    I am amazed!

"Android Os users won't be able to use iWatch." .....and you see that as a plus for Apple? So...It is a plus to exclude 70% of the cell phone users (More in most markets) who don't use iPhones? That is an amazing ...PLUS?

They will sell millions of iWatches to Apple Anything followers, but beyond that....I doubt it. Having people talking into their wrist at the next table will be similar to the "Google Glass" backlash. And....don't forget to give them a magnifying glass to read things on that teenie weenie screen.

  • Apple's Biggest Threat - Declining Prices Of Computing Devices [View article]
    Not just price commodization! (sp)

There is no doubt that most high tech products have declined in price over the years, but that by itself is not the problem.....The bigger problem is that consumers start to see little difference between big named items and low priced substitutes.

I just bought a new desktop for $495......has everything..... Years ago, I would have wanted an HP or DEll.....now I know.... they are no better.

We are entering a time.....when the additional incremental achievements are of little real value to the average consumer. Higher ress......so what. A little faster...don't need it. We have over a million apps....they only have 240,000. Who needs that many? (get the idea?)

  • Where WWDC Hinted, Google IO Delivers... Something [View article]
    Google or Apple?

It seems that some people think Apple has a brighter future than Google......
Only problem is....80% of Apple's value is built into the expectation of new products...every year or two.... We already saw Apple go down 40%....recently.

Whereas...Google and its search engine, and related advertising, is like a rock. Long after Apple is down.....Google will still be grinding out revenue.

I do agree that Google has a lot of "Never make money" ventures.....but that is a luxury you can afford with such a cash cow.

  • Apple roundup: Smart home hardware, iPod Touch, Costco [View news story]
    Costco ls big question mark!

Apple's deal with Costco could bring big questions. Lower pricing ...could mean Apple is recognizing that lower prices are on the way. That will be good and bad. Maintain unit sales.....at lower margins.

I take this as a plus for Apple. Not that Apple bulls will agree.

  • Apple Headed To $110 Or Higher, But Social Responsibility Still Needs Work [View article]
    Gee I'm sorry!

The Apple Bulls got my admonition for moderation....censored. Wow....I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, when I suggested that Apple bulls who commented.....were nasty.

Censorship is alive and well on SA....Makes me feel better?

  • BlackBerry Will Continue Its Rise [View article]
    Apple Bulls are here again!

For some reason, Apple bulls who have strayed off the ranch, always think that the only way they can boost Apple share values.....is to push down on someone else!

Hopefully most Apple shareholders are not so small minded.....but they are getting a reputation for "nasty."

  • Microsoft Takes Another Shot At Apple [View article]
    Microsoft leads the way?

Can you imagine....Microsoft leads the way with a touch screen Surface Pro 3, in the 21st century, but wants you to snap on a 19th century QWERTY keyboard, because everyone hates the on screen keyboard.

Give up QWERTY.........move to "touch alphabet!" No keyboard. 60 WPM without looking. Easier to learn than QWERTY.

  • Google IO: Market Shares [View article]
    That's the point!

I recently read an article that said.."Amazon only had 240,000 apps....not nearly as good as Google, or Apple, who had over a million......"

Can you imagine....240,000 isn't enough. It makes a joke out of app development.
Throwing your app into a sea of a million other....."App farts"....is not promoting...the development of meaningful apps.....

Apple, Google, and Amazon should discourage the development of meaningless apps.....not promote it.....

    Over 1 million apps?

Somehow we are suppose to believe that 1 million apps is a plus. Can you imagine, even with classes and categories, we have to choose?

I suggest, even though....I am an app developer...."If you haven't sold more than "x" number (or given away) in a year.....you are out. That would mean we would have 100,000 apps.....still way to many.

  • What Attracted Warren Buffett To IBM? [View article]
    Refreshing commentary....

Congrats to the SA comments. IBM comments are so refreshing....intelligent and civil....unlike those following Apple. Honest.....the Apple bulls start using the "C" word....almost immediately.

IBM's SA comments have class.....Apple....not so much.

    Impressed!

I was most impressed with the part where Apple will be hiring 100,000......We need more employment in this country. Oh wait.....that was China........

When insiders buy or sell stock....it has to be reported. Why wouldn't that be true for a company trading in its own stock?

  • Apple: Some Appear Too Optimistic [View article]
    Tangible vs Intangible....values.....

There are many executives who were making $10 million a year that can't find a job today. Apple is doing great, but the moment it isn't.....what is it worth.... then. Could you liquidate Apple and get 10 cents on the dollar? That is why high tech companies are so volatile!

Apple does have a lot of cash.....can't use it...though, and the EU is coming after it.

If Apple's earnings were to drop by 50%.....would its stock drop by 50%? No....it would go down 80%...... Look a Blackberry...the previous "king of the world."

Apple bulls are looking through rose colored glasses....god bless you....

  • Google: A Focus On Environmental, Social And Governance Metrics [View article]
    Good Article!

I was struck by the data that showed "tangible" vs "Intangible."
I can remember setting in advanced finance at the U of Iowa.....hearing the professor say two memorable things:
    1) "Can you believe, the market cap of General motors is now less than its total fixed assets?"
    2) "Wow.... they traded over 50,000 shares yesterday...a new record...on the NY stock exchange."

I am continually amazed how Google does the "right thing." Without regard for the greed side of Wall Street, and it profiteers.....
