        <![CDATA[There will be no improvements / efficiency.<br/><br/>The goal of this cuts is to simply reduce internal headcount in 'high cost' regions.<br/><br/>GSK will now be spending 50% of its R&amp;D budget on buying-in projects and products.<br/><br/>These cuts are only seen the tip of the iceberg.  At present only the 'research' jobs are being cut.  The ripple effect (Tsunami?) will spread to all of the groups that support research.  The Development groups in particular (who receive their projects from Research) are next.  Their workload has already dropped drastically since the previous cuts in Research were made and everyone is expecting much, much more cuts.  Their is also speculation of an entire site closure (<a href='http://seekingalpha.com/symbol/rtp' alt='Rio Tinto plc' title='Rio Tinto plc'>RTP</a>) being done over a period of 1-2 years....]]>
