Sirius XM On the Rise - Does Microsoft Want a Piece? [View article]
Let's face the facts. The companys' share price reflects investors' notion that the company is going bankrupt. That is the risk. What is the potential reward? Hard to tell. Right now the company is worth 2.5 billlon, (and that's what's relevant not sub Dollar Tree share price). Their revenue is going to be about 2 billion, based on the recent past performance of the 2 comapnies. If the company starts turning a profit, they will probably make 10% profit on the revenue, based on somewhat similar businesses. That's 200,000 million a year. With a PE of 10 that would mean the company may be worth 2 billion, with a rather high PE of 20, it would be worth 4.00 billion. For the kids who can't do basic math and focus on the f--cking share price, that would warrant a price of 1 dollar and 12 cents, with a PE multiple of 20 and the ASSUMPTION that they are turning a profit. The big if is if they survive without filing for bankruptsy and wiping out all shareholders. How's that for sirius buzz?
I heard JP Morgan is paying 1.9 billion for Wamu. Who will that money go to? the government?
-they are nationalizing private property, and it's not just wall street fat cats that suffer, it's everyday people who have 401ks and stock portfolios to supplement our bankrupt social security system. What a travesty

as I said, 1.82- 2.75, a gambling profit, the fundamentals of the business do not warrant a positive stock price, this stock has been moving on hype waxing and waning since it became public, shareholders have negative equity,
and again, I am not angry, I actually made made money on this dubious stock. By the way, if they straighten out their financing and begin to have a positive cash flow, it may be a good stock at that point.

You did not "play", at this point it's speculation, and you got lucky. I did not really have a bad experience with this stock. I netted positive overall. That is not my point. I think the practice of pumping stocks is misguided and detrimental. What is sad, is when you disregard the facts: -money losing business -heavily in debt -competition that emerged which puts the business model's viability at risk -management which is oblivious and or helpless to creating shareholder value -radio us kind of over, it was replaced by TV
but hey, nothing wrong with speculation, I suppose, if you accept the risk, anyway, the whole siriusbuzz and similar phenomena irk me,
Good luck everyone, but analyzing the fundamentals and the competition is probably a safer idea than luck

ok, as far as "overdeliver". Mel doesn't know "shareholder friendly" from a hole in the ground. It's unfortunate that they have so much debt and are cash flow negative, but hey, that's the reality. Credit ratings, cash flow, earning, and, Market Cap, not the stock price. 1$ ain't what it used to be with all the dilution. I feel for y'all, having been a Sirius shareholder twice. But bankruptsy is no fun for a company's hareholders, vis a vis some of the events of the past 10 days.
These f--ckers like Tyler, pumping this s--t are unequivocally worthless scum. Stocks are to be evaluated, not pumped.
"It wasn't that long ago that Lehman was praised, with the help of the Fed, of stepping in and saving Bear Stearns (BSC), but now it is closer than ever that Lehman stands near that same edge."
Are you that clueless? It was JPM that stepped in.
Lehman has access to Fed's discount window which means they don't have a liquidity issue.

them be some ugly ass shoes. their new styles that are more mainstream look better, though who knows if they will catch on with consumers? I think they are changing their image, probably unitentionally, to appeal to the elderly, medical and hospitality industry. I don't know if they are cognizant of the fact that this may be detrimental to the hipness (if any) of the brand. tricky business
Sirius management does not give a s--t about its shareholders or there is just nothing they can do since they are stuck running a money-losing business, so they are "doing the best they can". That is, they keep diluting shareholders' shares and facilitating shorting of their own shares. They need to go broader by offering video as well as radio, and not just 3 kids chanels. And it needs to HD. Additionally, they should take advantage of their coverage to offer high speed internet that's faster than aircards. These are just ideas, they need to step outside the f--cking radio box, radio was big before TV, remember? and theater before movies? radio is only viable in the car, or at least almost exclusively... well you get the point. With the amount of money they've lost and the amount of debt, they probably don't have much flexibility.

sjspeedio, Mel has bought 20 million worth of shares at prices much higher than these. He himself said that you shouldn't trust his investment acumen. Institutions that were lent shares to finance the merger are shorting shares, thereby driving the stock lower (they are SELLING the shares short). Shorting these shares is easy because the company is losing money, has a lot of debt and faces significant competition from other ways od delivering content.

San Francisco is a major city. As global internet access (such as Wi Fi) becomes available everywhere, Satellite content delivery may become obsolete. However, there are many remote areas where people may want to listen or I think, as important, view content. This could be an opportunity for satellite. What they should really do is expand beyond radio and provide more comprehensive video services and internet access in cars, besides just the few kids programs, also everyone likes HD nowdays . Their advantage, besides content, is that satellite reception is everywhere, unlike wifi. So there, Sirius management, I would use this free advice. And this constant share dilution is atrocious. Apple and Sirius, give me a break. Apple is growing and growing, Satellite radio was a groundbreaking technology when it first came out, but it is terribly expensive to use (i.e. the company's losses). Mel and his company are either totally desperate steering a ship that's possibly sinking or they don't understand the dynamics of wall street, such as the impact of share dilution on shareholders. Why would u read this clown Tyler, he's probably been reccomending the stock since it was at 9 $. A bad joke really. A good rule of thumb I try to follow is when a stock goes down a certain %, let's say 8, or whatever u r comfortable with, sell it and forget it. I am really not sure that internet in your car will not make satellite radio obsolete. WIFI is everywhere in San Francisco and Cerritos, for instance. I would sell it.

Exactly, nincompoop! Ditto the last comment, however, E-trade has really cool baby commercials and global trading allows customers to trade on international markets in that country's native currency. And come on, with revenue of about half of AMTD (Ameritrade) and 1/15th the market cap? If this company turns around, i.e. when earnings stabilize, it will be worth more on par with its competitors such as AMTD.
Jim Cramer's Unnecessary Beating Over Sirius [View article]
From what I understand, Sirius management let institutions borrow its stock as part of the financing arrangement to facilitate the merger. These institututions short the stock whenever it goes up, "hedging". Cramer actually said something like that in an interview. So it's not the analyst. Sirius management have diluted the stock tremednously and seem to intend to continue doing so. Maybe they don't have many other options being a money losing company, I don't think they can tell shareholder value from a hole in ground.
Why are some of these mutual funds buying FRE and FNM? Is it because you can't naked-short them and they are buying positions so they can short the stock? Ideas?
So anyway, some seem very naive about the stock. Just because you have satrad in your car does not make it a good investment.
Wow, death threats. Maybe you do have to be insane to own this stock. :-). Just kidding.
