Trading the Economic Recovery: Potential Opportunities Are Staggering [View article]
Don't see that AB losing LP status would crush the stock. Its only a structure for tax reasons, the underlying quality of the company would not be impacted. They would merely be paying 35% tax instead of 5% and move the tax liability from shareholders to the company.

Nice article, i too saw the potential of this group when i read a headline "Worst ever results for Asset Managers" I jumped on board AB for its simplicity of operations. Did own some LM but didn't like the debt and SIV issues. I agree that we should see 40-60 in a few years, possibly even higher if we see a new bull market and if inflation inflates the market

Hi Paul, i have recently made a significant investment in AB. I scoured the market for the most beaten down stock without the debt risk of the banks, i also would like a bit of an income in the meantime. A stellar history of earning increases is important too. What you have in AB is a company in a great industry with low capital expenses. In twenty years the stock went from $1 to $90, now back to $14. Doesn't sound much different to many companies except when you consider AB has also payed out all its profit to unit holders, if you add that (over $30 in the last 11 years alone), you get the true picture of how good this company is. The last bear market only knocked the stock down in the 30's, the fact that it is in the teens show how undervalued it really is. However lots of advisors don't seem to appreciate it, the Motely Fool told people to buy it at $70 and issued a sell at $17. This is ridiculous. Buy now at the bottom of the cycle in earnings and ride back up
