Market Outlook: Trendless Consolidation Will Give Way to Major Move [View article]
Good analysis, i too am thinking choppy range bound trading until next results season. Then i feel its up to the banks, if they can pull off some stellar results that could kick start another move higher. Another interesting point is the number of companies thats results rely on a rising market, think insurance companies, asset management, or any company with stock investments. If the market can at least drift up or climb the wall of worry for another month or so, these companies are going to report great mark-to-market gains on their investments which could inturn drive the market higher, i.e. the bull feeds on intelf.
I reckon a bit of a correction, then we will climb the "wall of worry". Buy stocks that are levered to benifit from a rising market such as asset managers.

Agree, that the causes are different but the reaction from investors is the same. March lows should hold, especially if some big banks can report profits next month (or smaller right downs!)
Are Stocks Actually Cheap (And Is This a Good Time to Buy)? [View article]
Things never look good at the bottom, otherwise it wouldn't be a bottom. If you wait for the economy to improve you will be 6 months too late and probably miss a 50% rally.
Stick a Fork in the Current Bear Market Rally [View article]
I would say to target individual stocks you have in depth knowledge of. There are definitely stocks unfairly beaten down that will rally despite the gloom. e.g. my UNH shares have rallied strongly since November. There are also a few companies trading at 3xearnings which have probably bottomed despite whatever the general market does.
Good+Bad=Bad, the government hoped it would equal good!
They should have let the bad fail, but its too late for that. LYG will probably be nationalised now, what a shame. I was tempted to invest at $8, glad i didn't. Don't trust the UK governement to look after shareholders, their track record is not good.
The US is in better shape than Europe. Their property crash has only just got going, while the US market will soon stabalize. 30yr mortgage rates are dropping. US wages are lower and productivity is higher. All it will take is C, BAC,etc to stop making big write downs and the market will rally so strongly that all the shorts will have heart failure.
Dollar Rally Likely a Short-Term Phenomenon [View article]
Yes i'm in Australia and US assets look like bargains compared with at home. Houses in Australia are ridiculously overpriced and our currency is overvalued to. I've been buying US value blue chips and even though I am slightly down in US dollar terms i'm up on currency gains thanks to dollars rally.

Dell doesn't have any pricing power, that is the main problem. I am still long Cisco, they have more pricing power and $26 billion in cash to buy up the competition in this weak market. You can get away with cheap pc's but not cheap network equipment!
Dow Price Targets from Last November [View article]
What a joke analysts really are. I watched Bear Stearns and Countrywide get sold off cheap, yet analysts still had high target prices, ridiculous and a total waste of time. My tip is to live as far away from Wall Street as possible and ignor this mob.
Will the Bear Market Rear Its Head This Week? [View article]
The rest of the world is more in debt that the US. The US has the greatest companies in the world, Coke, microsoft, visa, etc. These guys aren't going broke any time soon, sorry Mark. US will soon reach "safe haven" status as people gravitate to the safety of these blue chips. No one is going to invest in emerging markets after the Olympics, China is already down 50%. Europe is going into recession, Aus and NZ are getting there. They all have more overvalued real estate markets that the US.

Who's next? WM?, how about Morgan Stanley, how are they looking?
Looks like everything will be owned by BAC and JPM after all this is over!
What will happen to LEH's asset management business?, thats a good business.
