The Light at the End of the Tunnel Is Energy Efficient

The Power Grid is in need of restructuring much the same as our highways were. In the 50's we had the beginning of the Interstate system for transportating products to market. History has proven that this was very good for the economy. This super highway system was and is open to everyone and for the most part toll free. Why not create a electric grid that is available to all that wish to generate electric power. This way power can be safely supplied to the existing distribution systems from generators of every kind imaginable, both private & public. With a system like this we would be able to turn our electric Utility system into a true free market system. It would provide a means of transporting a product (electricity) just the same as the Interstate Highway. It would be easy and economical to develope the system & controls needed to meter and direct the flow of current to the consumers. There are already programs to accomplish this, they are used with the power storage and peaking systems. Just as with the bi-directional Interstate highway system there would be power lines "ship power" to the grid and to "receive power" from the grid.

A system like this would be just as benificial for the Country as the Interstate Highway has proven to be. Our electric grid needs to be revamped today to meet our needs. Why not built it with the same philosyphy that built our super highways?
