  • Trading Google Options on Goldman's Upgrade [View article]
Sounds like a giddy group of Google investors. Google will never get within 100 points of it's all time high...ever!

  • Quitting the iPhone, Moving on to Google Voice [View article]
You may very well be correct in all the features you mentioned above. The problem is that Google is a terrible marketing firm. Remember, Google is the world's largest ad firm/agency, not the largest (nor the best) business technology firm.

  • Google Chrome: Redefining the Operating System [View article]
    Forgive me if I Yawn!

Google is attempting to revive the VAPOR WARE game of the 1980's and 90's!

Google hasn't earned a single penny of profit on ANYTHING other than paid search, period!

Given Google's dismal track record in business applications, why would anyone believe that Google will displace MSFT in business applications.

Operating systems are a business application, btw!

Just look what Google did with Postini. Google gutted the revenue, goodwill, and people that made Postini famous within the entire IT population.

Wake me up when Chrome ships, if ever!

  • Twitter Acquisition Mania: Google Rebuffed, Is Apple Trying Now? [View article]
    Cetin Hakimoglu

Why all the negativity? Twitter could be worth 10 billion and Facebook worth 40 billion based on huge growth, dominant market share, and potential. Twitter could be a useful source of news for people in a hurry who don't have time to read a newspaper.
    ______________________...

WOW, and you could be worth $10B, too...BUT YOU ARE NOT!

Neither Facebook nor Twitter will EVER be valued at the price you indicated above.

You should go back to your room and sleep off whatever you were drinking last night!

Twitter as a news platform? HAHAHAHAHAHA!

    What a joke!

There is nothing substantive in a 140 character posting. Try reading a 500-750 WORD posting to stay informed.

Keep on Twittering to your hearts content. The dumbing down of America continues!

Twitter is the most worthless technology I have ever seen since I began to work in technology in 1982.

  • Microsoft's Office for the Web Will be Ready No Time Soon [View article]
GoogleApps will never be a serious threat to Microsft Office. Microsoft has sold hundreds of billions of $$ worth of desktop softwware since 1990. Google has yet to sell more than $60M/YR worth of Google Apps, including Postini revenue. In other words, GoogleApps is FREE and nobody is paying for GoogleApps.

  • What Should Google Do Next?  [View article]
The question isn't what kool services Google provides, the question is how much revenue and profits can Google generate from these kool services.

Right now, 95% of GoogleApps users (minus Postini) use the FREE version. That means Google paid search subsidizes Google Enterprise.

Look into the upper right corner of the Premium Google Apps and you will find that you paid $50 per user per year for a BETA version of the service.

Why pay for a service that Google admits is BETA and not ready for prime time.

Google Apps will never compete with MSFT Office to SMB or Enterprise customers because of the perceived value of Google Apps.

Google is unable to flip users from the FREE version to the PAID version and one big reason is the fact that GoogleApps is BETA.

There has never been a mission critical business application that didn't pay for itself over time and become profitable.

Google Apps is losing ground every single day by giving away for FREE something most businesses would never ever pay for...BETA software!

  • Google's GMail Outage: Another Blow for "The Cloud" [View article]
Is there a "perfect" SaaS solution that will never crash, periodically? Probably not. Is there a non Macintosh computer system that will never make you reboot and sometimes rebuild a hard drive. Probably not.

Google's Postini SaaS email security solution is EXCELLENT in terms of it's proven track record of uptime, reliability, and being secure.

In the 5 years of my firm using Postini, we have never had an email service interruption from Postini.

Email is the most important business application for the internet. And Postini makes email flow day after day after day!
