How Google Apps Could Cost Microsoft Up to $18 Billion in Value [View article]
What a dumb ass dork this writer is. There is no mad rush from exchange users to Google Apps! There is a mad rush from Google make everyone believe that Google Apps is a Microsoft killer.
Unless and until Google amasses at least 10M PAID USERS for GoogleApps (currently less than 100K users PAY for GoogleApps) there is no threat to MSFT revenues, period.
And according to Google's latest 10Q report, GoogleApps is nowhere close to being 1% of Google Revenues, no matter what Google Enterprise claims.
Will Google's Chrome OS Be a Hit? Probably, Since Steve Ballmer Doesn't Think So [View article]
Ask 100 people about what Google sells and all 100 people will say paid search. None of those 100 people would say know that Google is trying to be a software company for mission critical applications.
Google needs to spend at least $1B in telling people they are more than just the largest ad agency, ever!
But Google wont spend that money and that is why Chrome will be a niche product.
There are NOT 2M Google Apps PREMIER customers that PAY real $$ for Google Apps.
If there were 2M paid users, Google would break out Google Apps revenue apart from paid search as that revenue number would be more than one percent of total Google revenue.
I just wish that more writers on this site didn't wear kneepads for Google.
My firm is a national reseller for Postini and I know for a fact the number of businesses who PAY real MONEY for Google Apps Premier is less than 5,000!

RICK URBAN cuts to the chase. Google is still a one trick pony and don't generate any measurable revenue or profits from any source outside of paid search.
Ad agency is the perfect business model for Google.

Good luck, Google.
If Google treat other customers as poorly as Google has treated Postini customers, then Google will never ever have success dealing with real customers in the real world.
Google is the largest ad agency, ever. Now they wanna be a business application and operating system juggernaught.

Are you saying we CAN sue MS when Excel calcs wrong (it does sometimes) or when Access corrupts a series of tables (happens a lot) or other things like that? My understanding is that we are on our own when this stuff occurs.

NONE of those 1000 people will say that Google sells mission critical business applications.
WAKE UP! Unless Google starts actually marketing GoogleApps, then GApps is on it's way to a 1% market share.

Google Goes After Lotus Notes [View article]
On these very pages, Google supporters have stated time and time again that GApps generates literally "hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue"!
Hundreds of millions of dollars of revenue comes from millions of businesses.
Care to do the math?

Google is attempting to revive the VAPOR WARE game of the 1980's and 90's!
Google hasn't earned a single penny of profit on ANYTHING other than paid search, period!
Given Google's dismal track record in business applications, why would anyone believe that Google will displace MSFT in business applications.
Operating systems are a business application, btw!
Just look what Google did with Postini. Google gutted the revenue, goodwill, and people that made Postini famous within the entire IT population.
Wake me up when Chrome ships, if ever!

Google Takes Another Swipe at Microsoft's Enterprise [View article]
What happens if Google, for one reason or ten thousand other reasons, loses any of your data.
Google will tell you they have never lost ANY customer data.
Google will NEVER give you a written SLA about their losing customer data.
NEVER EVER partner up with any firm that doesn't walk the walk.
Google chooses to talk the talk very well. My firm sells Postini and is trying to sell GoogleApps to the SMB market.
Microsoft Squandering Cash on a Meaningless Product [View article]
Businesses don't use GOOG products because nobody knows that Google provides business applications (GoogleApps).
If you asked ten people about products/services Google provides, all ten would say search.
If you ask ten people about products/services MSFT provides, every answer would be Word/Excel (Office).
Google has a much tougher road ahead to prove it has the services and advertising to compete with MSFT.
Today, Google cannot market anything successfully. Very strange for the largest ad agency in the world.
