    Consider also that anyone whose credit card debt has been charged off has destroyed their credit rating for a good 7 years.

    None of these people are buying homes or cars for the next 7 years. Does not bode well for the hoped for recovery in consumption.

    Cancer is right.

    Now that Discover Financial is incorporated as a bank holding company so that it can receive TARP funds, the industry has metastasized to further undermined the stability of the US government. The US Treasury is paying credit card bills!
