  • Several Ways to Play RIM [View article]
"initial sales for the iPhone have been somewhat lackluster in China because the Chinese have so far not taken to the QWERTY keyboard".......Wow, were did this come from. Did someone poll them? I thought the high price and lack of WiFi was the problem. And, recent reports indicate sales are not as bad as first reported. Wild claims such as this tend to ruin an article for me. Too bad because most of article seems to be well thought out.

  • Cramer's Stop Trading! Why the Democrats Will Lose in 2010 (12/3/09) [View article]
I don't often agree with Cramer (any more) but he is always an interesting read. And, I do agree on his thesis for this article. And, he is not an idiot. He is just wrong(er0) more often than we would like him to be.

  • Black Friday Sales Are Down Because Online Spending Is Up [View article]
Hey Jason! Thanks for another "right on" article. I know from my personal experience, and that of several members of my family, that we now do the vast majority of our shopping on line. The advantages are extraordinary including the ability to research a product, including price, before I buy it..............and, there is almost always NO SALES TAX! Unfortunately, the latter is not true of Apple store products which now why I buy them elsewhere.

  • Top Apple Analyst Muddies Black Friday Results [View article]
Based solely on purely personal observation their sales should be up. I bought a 64GB iPod and a 1 TB Time Capsule to go along with my previously purchased 24" iMac desk top, Mac Air and my daughter's Mac Book. Sweeeeeeet! But, I did buy at Amazon because prices were better (actually the best) and NO TAXES.

  • Cramer's Stop Trading! Why Is Boeing Flying? (11/16/09) [View article]
As a radar engineer with another company I was privileged to have worked with Boeing on the competitive development portion of the AWACS Program in the 70's. I was very impressed with the quality of Boeing's engineering and management and the safety margins their engineers built into their commercial product. Consequently, have always preferred flying their aircraft to any others. I am confident that they will not turn out a product before it is fully ready and when it is ready it will be "best in class". For those of us who invest now we will reap the rewards later. I am long BA.

  • Research In Motion Not Likely to Spend $1.2B on Share Repurchase Program [View article]
Problem with buyback is that most investors really want RIMM to use that money to develop more and better products. RIMM is falling behind in their product area and is facing more and better competition. Buying back their own stock is almost like surrendering and admitting they no longer have the spark that propelled them to early success. Stock buybacks could be viewed as positive if they were in an older more established product area. They are not and their move, even if just a ploy, was not a positive event. Don't get me wrong. I think their stock is undervalued but that move does not give me confidence they can return to their old glory days. By the way, I do hold RIMM. Will likely sell it once the undervalued state is corrected.

The only company I have a substantial investment in, admire, believe they make the best and most cost effective products and, that I actually buy, use and marvel at. They represent the very best of what America can do in the business and product world. I have put my money where my mouth is and have been richly rewarded for it both financially and in product use.
