Wachovia for Free? Citi Still Paid Too Much [View article]
...and funny how Mr Hill's bio doesn't mention his ignominious departure from Commerce. I will put my money on Citi-Wachovia working...as long as Terri Dial and the Wachovio people do it their way.
My dad worked for Western Electric for 35 years. Let's not forget the innovations in manufacturing technology and pioneering industrial engineering studies that came from WE. I know it's a natural evolution, but I can't but feel sad for the "old" AT&T, Ma Bell. She was quite a bureacratic leviathon, well fed by the US Government until Judge Green intervened. My dad knew the company's days were numbered when the break-up occured. He said that the Lucent business was being run by engineers who had no sense of real competition or marketing. He urged me to get an Engineering degree and MBA in Marketing - that was the future, he said. Technocrats who knew how to market. Pretty sage advice from a 62 year old Industrial Engineer!
I just bought into BBW at $6/share. I am hoping to see some return to double-digit prices w/n the next 6-9 months. It has no debt and strong cash flow. Doesn't that count for anything anymore. Also, they aren't they going full scale with the customized radio controlled cars for boys thing soon??
