Lets tell the truth... People are not investing because the Government via such regulators as the SEC has failed to do its job of protecting the investor. When a guy like Cox of the SEC can blame his failings on his subordinates and get away with it... then you know we are in trouble.

when the funds used to invest in hedge funds are from employee savings...pension monies etc.. they should be declared illegal or off limits or both. investing peoples life savings in such funds is at best... "reckless."

What happens if Oil suddenly rises back to where it was (after the September COLA increase is set) prior to the mysterious drop?

I think that Greenspan and his crew that created the totally rediculous concept of the "core" inflation should be charged with creating a way to unjustifiably short change the retirees (in a vailed attempt to reduce the Governments committment to these retirees).

Much better that we stop pissing away billions in the Middle East if we need a way to achieve the promises to Americas retirees.

Which Way Next for Short-Term Interest Rates?

Basically, what you seem to be saying is that those who have dilligently followed a plan of saving and investing in various pension plans are now being required to bail out those who didn't.

One result seems to me to be the accumulation of most of Americas wealth into the hands of the wealthy.
