  • What Happens to Print Ad Dollars When a Newspaper Stops Publishing in Print? [View article]
Some of those dollars will go to billboards, TV, the internet, junk mail, radio, telemarketing, cell phones, alternative marketing, and social networking sites.

An unknown percentage of related demand will disappear, as newspaper advertising was the only format with a positive benefit/cost ratio for them. This could be because they targeted a newspaper demographic (sports fans, old people, etc.) or are best suited to cheap, very local newsprint advertising (car dealers, small local businesses, etc.).

Thus, I would expect a very small effect on any one advertising venue.
