The Vibe hasn't sold as well as the Toyota Matrix for several reasons, the primary one being that Pontiac dealers treated the Vibe as a red-headed step child. After the initial launch in 2002, GM spent virtually NOTHING on advertising the Vibe during 2004-2007.
Now with the re-launch of the new generation Vibe and $4.00 per gallon gasoline, GM is once again advertising the car, the fact that it's one of the more fuel-efficient cars in the GM fleet, notwithstanding.
