2X and 3X ETFs Are Not the Best Long-Term Hedges [View article]
Leveraged ETF's are good when you go into a rally. For example The financials have been gettin the living snot kicked out of them. Suppose you expect a short rally this week due to the M2M hearings. FAS is an excellent place to wager your beats. The trick is to sell off into the rally. Take a look at FAZ, that pps has gone up almost 50% over the last month or so.
As a new investor I am finding this oil situation fascinating. Not sure how long inventory can keep rising along with price/b. My guess which is totally uneducated is the price of oil is going to collapse shortly but will rebound 10 fold once the economy starts moving. There are no signs the economy is growing, congress is fiddling while Rome burns and the banking industry is an utter mess. So for all those bulls in oil, good luck!
As a systems admin I use vmware extensively. I am also a day trader and bought vmware when it first went public. Sold my shares way too soon and left a great deal of money on the table but of course now I'm thrilled to be out. Between management problems, licensing issues and the economy it might take a couple of years for vmware to come back. Not sure why Microsoft just doesn't buy them out especially now when they are distressed. Really well written article and logically written. Nice job.

As far as I'm concerned the rating agencies are as gulty as Arthur Anderson was during Enron!!! I'm amazed at how little attention their getting for screwing everyone over. Of course banks are gonna fudge the numbers but rating agencies were supposed to be the fair impartial referee's.

Saying vmware has competition is a joke. Im a previous IT systems admin and can tell you that admins are extremely conservative with server software. No one wants to risk putting virtual machines on beta software. vmware really has no competition and will eventually get bought out by Microsoft. You watch Microsoft already tried to build their own virtual software but failed. Ya can't beat the ESX server.
