Yes, Cyprus, where the govt. takes ten percent of your bank accounts w/o warning. What a country.

  • Calumet Specialty Products: No Fuel For Growth [View article]
The author points out primarily negative aspects of the meeting transcript but says he is not short, yet. I would hate to think he would have the huge influence as we are seeing in the price drop, but mf and wscs are also probably piling on. CLMT's situation is not as dismal as he would like you to believe. Read the transcript.

It sounds as this was a difficult period for clmt, but positive going fwd. Can hardly wait for all the short biased articles to come out.

  • Lightstream Reports Inline Production And Gets Even Cheaper [View article]
PWE is a terrible stock with poor management. Dividend cuts are routine, a legacy policy for management. Expect more of them, but doubtful you will have continued cg's. Take your profits and don't look back.

Another sage management decision that cost me $20 registration fee with broker plus a few thou in paper losses. It certainly lightened my stream of funds.
Apparently no one can figure this out, but I seriously doubt I will be buying any Canadian trusts in the future. Can. govt also has blocked oil company sales to foreigners in the last year. That may be depressing prices as well. The US trusts are doing much better: Sand Ridge and Whiting USA prices are improving and they pay high dividends.

  • Ron Paul Proposed A Fed Masterstroke That Can End The Debt Ceiling Crisis At Once! [View article]
owe-bama should love that one. He can run it right back up there next year ad infinitum. This is a ridiculous proposal which means it has a good chance of passing.

And U is not yellow. It is grayish in hue. Uranium oxide is yellow, aka yellow cake. Author was wrong about that, but hopefully correct about the price. (I know it is late to comment, but the title caught my eye.)
The only elements with color are gold, copper, and beryllium.

  • Linn Energy For Dummies [View article]
I think he said: " However, if we subtract last year's $583 million Linn spent on but buying puts, last year's DCF of $679 million would clearly not cover the $600 million in distributions."
    Does that help?
Or in another perhaps simpler form, hedge costs plus distributions > DCF. (> means greater than)
You need to live up to your moniker. -)

  • Nothing Matters Much More Than Today's Income [View article]
Good article. I'm not sure about NLY though, having barely escaped that one last year. Their continuous cutting of the dividend is a very bad sign. I agree with your strategy however.

Per the author: "Any analysis presented in this article is illustrative in nature, is based on an incomplete set of information and has limitations to its accuracy"

Irrefutable incredibility at its best, but as Yogi said: "It ain't over 'til it's over."

  • Senate Slams Apple On Tax Avoidance [View article]
The senators could use some drool bibs when Cook talks about income they would love to tax. The questions they ask indicate that they have no idea of what their tax code says. They are truly a congress... of baboons.
Good for Rand Paul. He is one of the few in the senate with a lick of sense.

  • Sprott's John Embry: 'The Future For Retirees In America Is Grim' [View article]
It tends to retain its value as opposed to a fiat currency that does not (Zimbabwe, Weimar republic, etc).
It is also a form of diversification as no one can accurately predict the future.
