Analysts Disagree on Starbucks' Future [View article]
I am addicted to Starbucks, both its coffee and setting (with free wifi). I guess starbucks will make a lot of money going forward. It's hard to find a better retailer now and in the future.
Starbucks Will Restructure and Rise Once Again [View article]
People in my workplace are holding starbucks cups; I don't see them holding Mac Donald cups at all. No question starbucks is a better coffee, but people are choosing to look expensive, not cheap.
When I was still a university student, that sense was even stronger - you definitely don't want to look cheap walking around campus!
Is Apple More Undervalued Than Other Tech Sector Stocks? [View article]
Anon, when you apply for a credit card, the bank bases on your pass history and future (current job) income. Apply history is perfect; Apple future is better than anyone else, with a lot of cash on hand. Apple sells at least 15M-20M 3G iPhones each year from now, and you can see defer revenue will be up to the mountain in 3 years.

Whenever an analyst upgrades or downgrades a stock, he/she at least should spend this kind of effort to analyze the stock. I bet you those analysts that downgraded Apple a while ago did have intention - he/she got paid to help others to cover their short position. An investigation is needed. And that's why I think Apple shoud do bargain buyback to eliminate this kind of market manipulation. Steve may be thinking about some buyback seriously.
I think Apple should do bargain buyback to stabilize the share (e.g. it doesn't have to buyback to increase the P/E number since we all know Apple is an excellent company). And It doesn't have to buyback aggressively, but just buys on the dips. Doing that eliminates market manipulation.
iPod Sales Only 14.2% of Apple's Q4 Total Revenue [View article]
Apple achieves more balance earning sources, although 3G iPhones are just incredibly sucessful. Someday, iTunes (selling/renting games/apps/movies) can be a big part of revenue too.
Coming Apple mini could be a big hit because teens/college students really love to use both Mac and Vista OS's, and Mac hardward makes this possible. In fact, I'll buy a Mac mini for my living room when it comes out.
Well, I don't own starbucks, but this is easy to understand. You share room and you used to pay too much. Now, you can rent or even buy much cheaper, so why not negotiate first. This is actually a constructive step.
If the other side (landlord) doesn't want to negotiate, then he/she really got lost with all things going in real estate market.
Apple Takes a Bite of Research In Motion [View article]
By Q1 2009, the cash ($35B) + the deferred revenue ($15B) is more than half of Apple market cap (assuming Apple sells conservatively 6M 3G iPhones each quarter). So, if Apple can build up both the cash and the deferred revenue at this rate without tapping into their existing cash (for spending), eventually all deferred revenue becomes cash. So we look at $70B cash and still around $15B of defered revenue by 2012, which is about Apple's market cap right now.
Verizon Wireless Leads in Performance, But AT&T Takes Market Share [View article]
The trend will continue - people will switch to AT&T for 3G iPhones. And by the end of 2009, AT&T profit will explode (think of 20M iPhones under AT&T).
